With a name that means "cozy or nice atmosphere, but also belonging and general togetherness," gezellig invites guests to experience an elegant menu of local, seasonal cuisine using french techniques in a casual and welcoming environment. Located in Ottawa, Ontario, gezellig prepares each menu item using high-quality ingredients purchased locally. On the menu are items such as seared scallops, braised beef shortibs, potato gnocchi, beef tartare, duck breast, and wild-caught lingcod. Our classic butterfinger for dessert is a staple that has been on our menu since opening in 2012

Enjoyed the lunch option of picking two items from the menu for a set price. Our server was outstanding: friendly and efficient and handled a food allergy so carefully and knowledgeably. The food was delicious and different than you might find elsewhere.

Went for Brunch and had the Beet, apple and ginger soup… so delicious, healthy and velvety smooth. Also had the fried egg sandwich… bacon was perfectly cooked and the biscuit was to amazing. Could have eaten two of those ! Staff was friendly and service on time.

My first visit to Gezellig and won’t be my last. Service was fast, ambiance was comfortable, and the food was excellent.

Incredible brunch and friendly service. If you want something more elevated than a diner brunch, Gezellig is perfect.

We had the pleasure of enjoying a holiday lunch at Gezellig, and it was absolutely wonderful. The two-plate package for $30 is a fantastic concept, offering both exceptional value and quality. Each dish was beautifully presented, flavorful, and satisfying. Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was attentive and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. It’s clear the staff takes pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere, even during peak times. I also love their brunch offerings. The same two-plate format is available, and it consistently delivers delicious dishes that never disappoint. The breakfast sandwich is tasty. The biscuit is buttery and satisfying while the banana French toast satisfies my sweet tooth. We’ll definitely be back, whether for lunch, brunch, or any other occasion. Highly recommended!

Consistently good food and service. Busy with Xmas lunch clients so a bit noisy but not overly distracting.

Atmosphere was good as was service, the soup and dipping oil and fries were excellent. The burger, & pork belly were overly dry, mussels tasted old, a number did not open.
