With a name that means "cozy or nice atmosphere, but also belonging and general togetherness," gezellig invites guests to experience an elegant menu of local, seasonal cuisine using french techniques in a casual and welcoming environment. Located in Ottawa, Ontario, gezellig prepares each menu item using high-quality ingredients purchased locally. On the menu are items such as seared scallops, braised beef shortibs, potato gnocchi, beef tartare, duck breast, and wild-caught lingcod. Our classic butterfinger for dessert is a staple that has been on our menu since opening in 2012

Everything on your plate tastes great, and it's just the right amount to fully satisfy. Music is nice and in the background where it should be - I came for a nice dinner and pleasant conversation. Service is attentive, friendly and not intrusive. This is a good place to go for a special night. There's a lot of voices when it's really full but still has a private feel.

Tasty food, beautiful wine selections, curteous and attentive service with a smile and a lot of humor. Going back to this place very soon :)

This was my second experience and did not measure up to the first. The wait time between our appetizers and entre was extremely long. The server advised that the kitchen was “busy”. My friend’s scallops were over cooked. The server appeared marginally interested and not engaged. When asked at time of reservation if was a special occasion, I indicated a birthday. It was not even acknowledged. What was the point of asking? I expected and was prepared to pay a bill of $273 for a restaurant that claims to be a superior dining experience. This was not close. We had a lunch there and the dishes were fantastics, very tasty with good portions. Service was quick and very attentive. We really enjoy our time there! Will definitely go back to try other dishes on their creative menu!

Great service! Our server was attentive and came back often to refill water and coffees. Food was tasty! I like that I can choose to try two dishes for brunch!

One of the best duck legs I’ve ever eaten. We travelled a lot and my favourite was France on duck legs until I visited Gezellig. After tasting their duck legs, we become addicted. Strongly recommend tasting it.

Great food and service as always! Lunch menu was mainly small plates but the portions and quality were excellent.

Wonderful experience! The food was delicious and the service was like a well oiled machine. Very clean restaurant. The only drawback was the temperature. It was cold in the restaurant maybe bc we were seated against the window. Will definitely return! Bravo to the chef and the wait staff!
