With a name that means "cozy or nice atmosphere, but also belonging and general togetherness," gezellig invites guests to experience an elegant menu of local, seasonal cuisine using french techniques in a casual and welcoming environment. Located in Ottawa, Ontario, gezellig prepares each menu item using high-quality ingredients purchased locally. On the menu are items such as seared scallops, braised beef shortibs, potato gnocchi, beef tartare, duck breast, and wild-caught lingcod. Our classic butterfinger for dessert is a staple that has been on our menu since opening in 2012

As always, it was a very personable experience. Excellent choices and advice on wine. The food was excellent. We had three different appetizers and three different main and they were all excellent.

Service was amazing and food (brunch) was delicious- couldn’t ask for a better experience! We are excited to return to try the lunch/dinner menu. Thanks to the staff for the exceptional service!

Food was very good but portions could have been larger. Service was good but it too a while for someone to come to us to take our drink order to start.

We were well cared for while celebrating a special occasion. Service was friendly, attentive and well paced. Food was excellent. The upstairs booth was comfortable for two, and we appreciated being in the smaller upstairs venue. Noise level grew as the lower level filled up but we booked an early time so were spared much of it. A very satisfying experience and good value for a special night out.

First time dining at this restaurant, everything was wow, James our server was super helpful in guiding us on our dinner choices. We shared the ricotta gnudi appetizer which was delicious. Main course we had the short rib and the duck leg. We just could not get enough so delicious, tasted fresh and the meats were so tender melt in your mouth. We were full but had to try deserts. The butterfinger was much bigger portion than expected and wow! The chai tea creme brulee was yummy. We were very full and satisfied with our dinner and experience. We will be back soon! Highly recommend!

It was a special treat! I had invited two friends as a "thank you" and it was a perfect menu and venue. They hadn't been there for the brunch before. We were in a nice cozy, corner booth, which was likely quieter for talking than a more open table. All in all, nice food and a nice vibe.
