Welcome to Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar –Globally Inspired Modern Prairie Cuisine

Around the world, people gather with food for celebration, ceremony, and connection. Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar, located in The Leaf at Assiniboine Park, explores food from across cultures, incorporating fresh, locally-sourced, and seasonal ingredients from our gardens. Craveable dishes incorporate traditional flavours and techniques from around the world, inspired by the nature that surrounds us all. Pickled, preserved, fermented or straight off the vine, local ingredients are creatively prepared to highlight the amazing growers and farmers in Manitoba. Inventive, botanical cocktails made with herbs grown in-house, seasonal fruits, and house-made syrups will delight the senses.

It was our wedding anniversary so decided to try this place out as we read some decent reviews. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t the same as some of the reviews. When we first arrived there was no one at the front so we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The hostess came out and said hi. I told her we had made a reservation, she played with the iPad for a minute and then said follow me. We were seated beside the door where people walked in and out. The hostess dropped our menus and walked away (no interaction, no explanation of anything). Our server seemed nice, not much conversation but we noticed she had a few large parties. As far as the food, it was meh. There was a lack of flavour on our starters (focaccia and chips/dip). For mains we ordered the curry and the burger. The meat on the burger was extremely thin- like maybe 1/8th of an inch. The curry was so so. Lacked flavour. Our mocktails were good, but the alcoholic Caesar was weird!!! It had steak spice seasoning instead of a traditional salted rim, and was to come with celery/pickle, but instead we got a lime and a pitted olive- not sure if they ran out of ingredients or what but strange. We also had to go looking for the bathroom - which we found out was actually outside the restaurant. Overall it was a meh experience- we probably wont be back.

Great food and service. Always consistent. The risotto, roasted carrots are fantastic as are the cocktails and crème brûlée.

3 of the 4 of us had the lunch menu burger, and it was excellent. The 4th person had the lunch tacos, and did not like them compared to a similar taco she had had there some weeks earlier. The burgers were extremely filling, so none of us had dessert. The restaurant's decor is attractive, the setting in the Leaf is excellent. In all, we enjoyed our lunch there very much.

Food was delicious; beautiful ambience; it was very quiet which was great to enjoy great conversation at our table! Our server, Ava, was very attentive and very aware of one of us who is extremely gluten intolerant, and graciously accommodated this. Please send her our thanks.

The Gathering Salad and Focaccia were a great combination for a light lunch after a visit to the Leaf. The coffee and tea were delicious. Our server, Ainsley, was knowledgeable and attentive. Lovely atmosphere where we could visit and hear each other clearly. Thanks!

We had the Artic Char as our starter which was a show stopper right away. Simply sublime! The lamb and the pork mains were both awesome and you must try the eggnog brûlée to end. This stunning array of food was complimented by Doug’s outstanding and knowledgeable service. Well done!

The tomato bisque was too smoky to the point it did not taste like tomato. The accompanying grilled cheese was so salty it took 3 glasses of water to get it down. Do not recommend unless you have no taste buds.

Our server did amazing job. She was attentive and politely moved us to the lounge when it was time for another reservation. She made us feel welcome the entire time .. 6/5 stars ⭐️ Food was tasty and nicely presented. I got there 10 minutes early for our reservation that was at 11:15 AM. I noticed that we were seated right by the kitchen and that my view was the kitchen. I asked to be moved because the restaurant was empty but that wasn’t possible (there were only two other people in the entire restaurant) but the big plan could not accommodate a move even though I had made advanced reservations about two weeks ago. We will be back and other than a crumby view, and inability to accommodate us, it was great 👍

My husband and I had never been there but went for lunch there today. It’s a very nice restaurant, we had Ava the server and she was great. Good atmosphere. If you haven’t tried the Gather, you gotta go!
