Please note that Friedmans happily accepts walk in parties at all times everyday. We unfortunately do not take reservation for lunch or brunch hours, so please come in to get seated or be added to our wait list.

Friedmans is a family run business, which operates locations throughout New York City. Friedmans was named after the famous economist Milton Friedman who popularized the phrase, “there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch”. To put it simply, “to get one thing we like, we usually have to give up another thing we like.”

Our mantra is simple, “Eat good food” and this is what we strive to deliver to our guests. For us, it has two meanings. Firstly, eat food that tastes good. Secondly, be proud of the food you serve. We know where our food comes from. We communicate regularly with our farmers and are proud to serve antibiotic free meats & local vegetables. Our mission is for you to love, respect, & enjoy, not only the food you serve, but also the team you work with.

We had a wonderful dinner at Friedman’s 31st! We arrived a little early and they were able to see us right away. The staff was extremely friendly! My daughter has many food allergies, but Friedman’s labeled everything! They have such an incredible selection of gluten-free food, I highly recommended for anyone with celiac or gluten intolerance. Another fantastic Friedmans! We will be back!

This was the first time we’ve dined in their new location, but not the first time I’ve been to Friedman’s. This is a perfect spot for everyone in your party to find something they like, across a variety of different options and cuisines. They added a new appetizer of crispy rice with avocado on top and WOW was that scrumptious. Our waiter was so personable and nice and the vibe feels more upscale yet approachable. It was a fantastic meal and evening — thank you Friedman’s!!

Fabulous gluten-free options. You would never know any of it is gluten-free. This includes the Fried Chicken.

The food is consistently good and so happy that it is also gluten free. The new location is airy and comfortable.

Always a solid choice. The staff tries, but more education about what people with special dietary needs can/cannot eat would help.

Wonderful spot near Penn Station to meet gluten-free friends. The new location is spacious with high ceilings. Pleased that they now allow reservations. GF desserts were fabulous.
