We love this restaurant, warm and friendly ambience with the perfect noise level to enjoy the conversation around the table. The food was superb, an abundance of prawns in the cocktail and the steak was cooked to perfection! The staff are attentive without being intrusive. Well done to the team for great service and amazing food!

Excellent food with excellent service. A hidden gem, well worth a visit. The best Afternoon Tea I've had in a long time.

Gorgeous restaurant, food, decor, staff all just lovely. Felt really cosy and safe too. This was my first time out dining alone after the death of my husband in September and I definitely chose the right place to take those tentative steps. Food was delicious and I would definitely recommend.

While we were visiting York we wanted to have a meal with a special friend and bring our dogs. What a great choice. A table that was slightly to one side so we weren’t in close proximity to anyone else. Very friendly and accommodating staff and delicious food and wine. Also a very relaxed atmosphere so no pressure to hurry and very reasonably priced. We had a wonderful evening. Infact we liked it so much we went back the next day for lunch!

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The restroom ambience was perfect, the food (all 3 courses) were outstanding- slightly pricey but 100% worth it. The waiting staff were very kind and helpful. Would recommend this to friends and family and hope to visit again in the future! I will be thinking about the beef brisket and truffle mash for a long time!

Having read lots of great reviews about the Forest we decided it was about time to check out if it was as good as we'd heard and so glad we did. It more than lived up to expectations. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Will definitely be going again and would highly recommend to others. A little gem of a place.

We’ve visited every time we are in York and tonight was the best food we’ve eaten yet it was amazing Can’t fault the lovely staff and once again can’t overstate how nice the food was
