Nestled between East Austin neighborhoods, Este celebrates fresh seafood, Mexican cuisine, and charcoal cooking. From the team behind the East 6th favorite, Suerte, Chef Fermin and restaurateur Sam Hellman-Mass are taking their love for masa coastal.

Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: From 2024 James Beard semifinalist and acclaimed Suerte chef Fermín Núñez, this chill seafood spot is all about mariscos—think shrimp aguachiles, tuna tiradito, and oysters splashed with salsa negra. The light and airy space features white rafters and hanging plants, and happy hour spills out onto a big back deck. All of it landed Este on Bon Appétit and Esquire’s best new restaurant lists in 2023.

    Our recent visit to Este was nothing short of exceptional. As longtime fans of Suerte, we approached Este with high expectations—and it delivered on every front. The outdoor seating area provided the perfect atmosphere for our evening meal. The service was impeccable; our primary waiter was attentive and personable, while each staff member who delivered dishes displayed impressive knowledge about the preparation and ingredients. Este carries forward the signature masa expertise that made Suerte famous, but applies it beautifully to a seafood-focused menu. The ceviches were bright and perfectly balanced, showcasing the kitchen's talent for letting fresh ingredients shine. The pork carnitas demonstrated that their skill extends beyond seafood, while the octopus and halibut tacos were standout items—featuring tender, perfectly cooked proteins nestled in those wonderful house-made masa tortillas with sides that only enhance the experience. The beverage program deserves special mention. The margaritas were expertly crafted, and the thoughtfully curated wine list offers excellent pairings for the menu's coastal Mexican flavors. Este has successfully established its own identity while maintaining the exceptional quality that diners have come to expect from the team behind Suerte. Whether you're already a fan of their sister restaurant or discovering them for the first time, Este promises a memorable dining experience that celebrates the best of coastal Mexican cuisine.

    Andrew was a great waiter! We loved everything that we ate! The shrimp and the tuna tacos were both standouts. We brought a visiting friend and she was wowed!!

    Excellent service. Very tasty innovative Mexican seafood. Very good staff that do a wonderful job. Our server Vanessa was excellent. Manager Lyle knows his Mezcal and tequila ! Thanks for a great evening . Saludos until next time.

    Our tasting menu experience at Este was truly one of the best dining experiences we've had. Every dish showcased the perfect balance of Mexican coastal flavors, fresh ingredients, and creative execution, paired with impeccable service. Every plate was thoughtfully presented, and the staff's passion for the menu made the whole experience feel extra special. "Este" is a must-visit for anyone looking to discover elevated Mexican food.

    Great meal - went with group so got to share and try many things. Enjoyed all the food, but the camarones were the least favorite of the group. Bluefin Tuna and waygu ribeye (cachetada) tacos were favorites.

    We always enjoy dining at Este. We love the whole Turbot and unfortunately they were sold out this time and we had to branch out and try some new dishes. I’m glad we did because they were fabulous! I had the cod (PESCADO A LA CREMA) and my husband tried the pork (COCHINITA PIBIL). We started with the Tuna Tiradito, which we have enjoyed before and it was remarkable. The crispy leeks make a nice touch! Looking forward to going back and trying something new again!

    Este is one of our favorites. The food is absolutely delicious and creative, the best steak tacos I've ever tasted, service is impeccable and the restaurant itself has a great vibe
