We ordered food , waited ages for just one starter . Then sprouts were very hard Never asked if we had any allergies

I didn’t realise this was part of a hotel. The staff seemed fairly put out by the fact that I was dining there when I wasn’t a guest of the hotel.

Service wasn’t the best. Had to wait for milk then hot water cool. Waitress wasn’t briefed on what cakes were. Lots of waiting!

O.K for food, service was fine until after main was served after which we were studiously ignored. Gave up waiting to order a dessert, asked at the bar for a coffee- “when I’ve got time” was the answer. Coffee arrived about 20 minutes later, no apology for delay. Ambience is a cafe, not restaurant, plastic tables, cheap paper serviettes. Note when paying the bill , it invites you to leave a tip (I didn’t) but 10% (lack of) service charge has already been added.

Food was reasonably presented, and fairly tasty. For the price point I was expecting a little more. My wife had ordered a pasta dish, which was supposed to come with some fresh salad, which was not included.

We were staying at the hotel and booked a table here due to the fact it had a kids menu online. We were seated and given a menu. I asked for the kids menu but was told they didn't have one. I said online it cleary showed a kids menu as I had downloaded it. The waiter was very sorry. There wasn't anything there our youmg kids wanted so they ended up sharing chicken pasta. No lemonade either so I couldn't have a gin as I can't drink tonic.

We ate here one night while staying at the hotel. After a long wait for the waitress we were seated in the 'bar' area - not a proper 'restaurant' table, despite having pre-booked. Several menu items were unavailable - including no chips, so only sweet potato fries or mash were available. The food we had was OK, but they seemed to be very short on staff and lack of basic menu items is not really acceptable, so we did not eat here again.

Tables only half laid up, staff disinterested. No-one came to serve me after my main course. After waiting half an hour, I had to go up to the bar for service where the waitress was drying glasses. There were only 2 other tables in use. Lastly, I only had cash which they refused to accept. The food however was very good and beautifully presented.

We love Emma's. On this occasion the food wasn't quite as good as their usual excellence, and it was noisy with a party. But I loved being introduced to kiwi and lime cider, and my partner enjoyed the vegan ice cream. Great service with a smile 😊
