Cheeses From Switzerland

Raclette du Valais
The creamy and flavoursome Raclette du Valais AOP cheese is produced solely in the canton of Valais using unpasteurised milk. The flavor is fresh, like fresh butter or cream, with a slightly acid tang. The rind is sticky and pungent with aroma of cured meat.
Emmentaler Cheese
The King of Cheeses from Switzerland. The famous cheese owes its name to the valley of the River Emme in the Bern canton. A fresh flavour reminiscent of dried grass. With sweet, milky caramel notes.
Appenzeller Cheese
Appenzeller cheese can only be produced in the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden and Ausserrhoden and in parts of the St. Gallen and Thurgau cantons in line with the traditional recipe. Its unique, tangy flavour is owed to the careful and luscious aging at least three months involving the herbal brine. The recipe for this herbal brine is a strictly guarded secret.
Le Gruyère AOP Cheese
The taste of Switzerland since Year 1115. Produced in the region around the small town of Gruyères, in the Fribourg canton for several centuries. The spicy mature taste with fine salt crystals, the fruity note, the fine aroma of roasted chestnuts or walnuts.

We ordered the classic Swiss dishes: cervelat salad, veal stew with rosti (Geschnetzeltes) and chicken schnitzel. Unfortunately the food were not anywhere close to what the previous chef served and most definitely not up to Swiss standards. The schnitzel was under flavoured but cooked well. The cervelat salad was served with plenty of greens (not how it’s usually done in Switzerland), has a strange dressing and the cheese and cervelat was cut haphazardly. The geschnetzeltes was also way overcooked and the sauce strangely over salted. The service was still pretty good and the new renovation very nice. Overall, it’s a real disappointment because prior to it closing this was THE place to go for authentic good Swiss food.

It's great to see the Swiss Club reopened under new management in the very nicely refurbished space above Flinders Lane. There's still an excellent menu of moderately priced Swiss dishes, with a broad wine list and multiple beers on tap or bottled. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Amazing lunch, fresh flavors and excellent portions. I had the salmon rosti and the Toblerone Mousse, both yummy! Cosy and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.
