Based in the coastal town of Folkestone, on the South-East coast of England, Dr Legumes is a Community Interest Company that uses plant-based food as a tool to communicate the ethos of health-conscious food within our local community. We are passionate about blending local and exotic flavours to create a unique plant based dining experience.

We are a community interest company, invested in providing accessible workshops to engage our community in the ethos of LIFE.MADE.BETTER Our workshops are designed to engage our local community by using food to promote and focus on health, well-being & sustainability. We facilitate these workshops within the restaurant space at Dr Legumes.

Beautiful, well crafted and thoughtful food. Really cool ambience and always a great playlist. More lovely cushions or textiles would be my only (very female) feedback. But if you love food and enjoy cooking yourself, then rest assured you’re in the right place 💚

Very unassuming restaurant in Folkstone but the food and service was exceptional. Would highly recommend, especially their Sunday Roast!

Very well-cooked vegan food. Flavour's rich, vibrant and distinctive. Liked it very much. Super healthy, too, of course. As a dining experience, leaving aside the food and the very pleasant service, the venue is a bit 'cafe' like, but in a slightly old-fashioned way. They could spruce this up quite easily. So if it's a classy evening out you want, perhaps not, but for very good and tasty vegan food, served very nicely, then this is a good choice.

Really charming service. Great choice of dishes if more focused on meat substitutes than we expected (seitan, pea protein sausage). That said, on a cold evening, the comfort food menu of pies, sausage and mash was just the ticket. The sticky toffee pud was exceptional. The wine list includes organic and biodynamic wines, which is a plus.

Really enjoyed our meal out to Dr Legumes in Folkestone. Menu online was different to what was presented in the night, but actually superceded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious, great value for money. What was even better was, they had desserts and you had more than one option. The staff were amazing, attentive, polite, considerate (I put in for a special request, which was fulfilled.) Just overall was really impressed with everything.

The food was tasty, the portion and price were fine. However, I was tempted by the menu on the website, which had a large selection. On site, it turned out that there were only two options for lunch: a burger and a sandwich. Unfortunately, that's not enough. We ordered burgers, which were tasty. An update of the website and an up-to-date menu would be useful. Unfortunately, this lack of good information discouraged me from coming back and affected the overall assessment. The service was nice and able to explain everything. I thought this restaurant would be a great experience, but I was wrong.
