Dolce Italia was established in 2010 by Tiziana Di Costanzo who came from Ischia, an island in the Gulf of Naples. Using a combination of classic Italian dishes, family recipes passed down for generations, and warm hospitality, Dolce Italia has built a reputation in Sarasota as a destination for anyone seeking great food and ambiance. In 2015 Matthew joined as manager of the front of house and is now a managing partner of Dolce Italia. The kitchen staff trained by Tiziana from the beginning are still with the restaurant with Maria being the capocuoco.
Some of the specialities Dolce Italia has become famous for are the Napoletan Eggplant- a tender sautee eggplant with fresh tomatoes crowned with ricotte, the Trenne Dolce Italia- the signature pasta dish with creamy tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and mushroom.

Dolce Italia is the best Italian restaurant in Sarasota. The food is outstanding especially the pasta. The service is very attentive. We brought friends from up north and they thought it was the best Italian food they have ever had.

Amazing place that we always go to on special occasions...food..service and atmosphere is outstanding....easy to park and always a excellent enjoyable experience....a top 5 in Sarasota for sure.....can't wait till my wife's birthday and out next visit....alos very reasonable on prices for this 5 star level of restaurant

We had a party of six at Dolce Italia for the first time. The meal was excellent, as was the service! It's difficult with older folk and we had one person who can't hear if it's too noisy, so he didn't enjoy the space as much as he would have liked. It's small but inviting inside and we heard the owner having to turn people away because they were booked for all seatings for the evening. I can understand why! As a note, I am gluten-free and was delighted they served a gluten-free penne as a substitute in any of the pasta dishes. I had penne with arrabbiata sauce and cleaned my plate, which I don't usually do. The caesar salad one person had had proper (not canned) anchovies on it. She said they were delicious! We didn't get dessert but several had espresso. The wine list had a good price range. The ambiance was one for friendliness and I noted a willingness to make each table happy. The only way you might go wrong is showing up without a reservation! We will definitely go back!
