Welcome to the Devonshire Arms, Baslow
The Devonshire Arms, in the stunning Peak District National Park, is a stylish bar and restaurant, with 11 individually designed en suite double rooms.

Our talented executive chef, Darren Goodwin, and his team deliver mouthwatering dishes every day of the week, complemented by an extensive wine list, a choice of cask ales and European lagers, and a wide range of premium spirits.

We pride ourselves on our wine list, which includes many wines not available in other venues or on the high street, with over 35 wines that are available by the glass and bottle.

Three of us came for Christmas lunch. The pub/restaurant was very busy. We were seated fairly quickly and brought a drink and canapé’s which were very nice. Starters were nice, two of us had the Turkey option for mains which was excellent the steak option not so good . Desserts were enjoyable. The overall experience was positive, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon in a lovely setting. The ambiance was relaxed. Service was on the slow side but it didn’t bother us as we were enjoying the day, however we were offered 10% of the bill because of this. We would definitely book for Christmas Day again.

Nice place, unfortunately the food did not match the surroundings. We both had a starter and main and 3 out of 4 were very poor. One of the starters sent back and not paid for. Best part of the meal was the wine.

Have now eaten 3 times, the first was okay, second good but this last one the mains were terrible. All had fish and chips. The fish was all batter and the small amount of fish was over cooked (chewy), the chips were just about okay. We have decided that will be our last visit.

A nice venue but the restaurant could obviously not cope with the full dinning room a very long wait for food. Which was mediocre when it arrived. Staff were friendly and polite. We wouldn’t go there again

The food had been kept warm and had dried out. The car park is small and was full. It took 15 minutes to find somewhere else to park. The staff were friendly but service was slow.

We have no hesitation in recommending The Devonshire Arms. We booked for Sunday lunch and chose the festive menu and the experience was 5 star from start to finish. The surroundings were stylish and tastefully decorated for Christmas, the service was prompt, friendly and thoughtful and the food delicious. We certainly hope to return.
