Our wine menu was awarded the Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator in 2022, and we were voted locally as the best Fine Dining, Steak, Seafood, and more in Akron, Ohio. I don't often leave negative reviews and this should not be taken as one but perhaps a learning experience for the restaurant and myself as far as expectations may go. First off I have been dining at Lanning’s since the early 80's with my parents and I have been to Lanning’s since new ownership has occurred probably 4 times or more. I know to no longer expect the old menu and old inclusions (homemade sour dowel rolls, salad and potato included with carousel and steaks cooked in the lannings steak sauce) which I understand at this point. This was not my issue last evening for my anniversary dinner with my wife. We arrived promptly at 5:40 PM for our 5:45 PM reservations. By 6:45 PM we had already had our dinner plates taken away (and not offered a box for the still remaining shareable asparagus; which apparently still bothers me this evening as I write this apparently). While we were enjoying our desert (also like to mention that this was offered to us gratis since it was our anniversary; a nice touch) we were able to hear the waiter telling the table next to us that they had to leave soon or box their desert because they needed the table. My expectation, although perhaps maybe incorrect, was to have a nice relaxing dinner, enjoy wine on our time not the restaurants or the waiters, and go home as my wife and I have for the past 40 years or so that we have been dining here and so many others have, not to have a rushed dinner like we were late to a play or dining at a chain restaurant on a weekday. Perhaps our expectations must change or this is a trainable moment for the ownership and staff.

Our party was celebrating tonight with shrimp cocktail, bacon wrapped scallops, Caesar salad, Chilean Seabass, airline, chicken, ribeye, strip steak. Wow!Everything was exceptional! Service was impeccable! The care and attention for one person in this group with significant allergies with the demonstrated over and over. Thank you for an incredible evening and we look forward to our next dining experience!

Everything was fantastic, from the food and drinks to the service and ambiance. We went on a Sunday for my husbands birthday and it was quiet but not stuffy, will definitely be back for special occasions!

Wonderful first experience! Service & food were outstanding. We had the pork chop, walleye, west coast oysters and asparagus. All was perfect.
