El chef y propietario David Turin abrió el establecimiento David en 1998, en la histórica plaza Monument Square, en el distrito de las artes de Portland, Maine.     Just WOW! This was our first Winter Wednesday at David’s Monument Square, our second at a David’s restaurant. Chef Turin got it spot on with this event. The menu appealed to a meat eater and a fish-only eater and our cream brûlée bread pudding was probably the best dessert we’ve ever had. The bottles of wine offered were very appealing. Our server, Ali, was exceptional. I would not change one single thing!

    David’s was amazing. Our server was very friendly and service was very efficient. The food was incredible and it was cool being able to see into the kitchen while we were eating. Could not recommend David’s more, we absolutely loved our experience.

    Fun place! The cocktails were great and service was outstanding! We ordered the meatloaf, a pizza, oysters, salad, and fries. The guys were happy with the meatloaf and pizza! The oysters were good. The fries were soggy but has great flavor. Salad was fine, nothing special but not bad, just expensive for what it was.

    The winter Wednesday dinner with a bottle of wine was delicious. The waiter was very attentive. A great evening.

    We have been to David’s several times and the food has always been exceptional. During our most recent visit, on a busy Saturday evening, the service was good but the server seemed overly stretched. Regarding the decor, while it was certainly clean, it seemed a little worn and could use an update.

    Sadly despite making reservations we’re walked into a back room with none of the character that lends a lot to this place. 4th time eating here. Once we drive up just from Boston to eat here. Tonight was a disappointment. The calamari, our favorite, was drowned in dressing and chewy. The garlic knots were either overdone or chewy like they should be. My husband had steak and lobster pizza. Only steak came through. I decided to try the nearly famous meatloaf. It tasted odd. The mashed potatoes were lumpy. The sauce very strong and salty. After a while I realized the top of the meatloaf was burned and the bottom soggy. I couldn’t finish 1/2. I violated my own rule, I should have sent it back. Unfortunately for what we anticipated as out valentines dinner, a day late so we could get a table, it was not worthy. Sadly, I won’t be going here again. Too wildly off from their usual standard.
