When we arrived someone had taken our table so after a time we were relegated to the cafe area, very unsatisfactory.

Every time I book online I have trouble getting the time I want or for the numbers I want but when I arrive there is often many unreserved areas that I could have access to …. This is bookings made in advance by 3 or 4 days at least and not Friday to Sunday night ???

We had booked to sit in the outside courtyard, but as it was a 35C day. the venue willingly moved us inside into air-conditioned comfort inside. All was good and everyone had a great time.

Of the five of us dining two chose the Pork Belly special, unfortunately it was very bland and the accompanying vegetables lacked flavour as well. The other three diners in our group enjoyed their meals of the BBQ Beef Sausage special, a steak with salad and chicken schnitzel, with salad and chips. The drink prices were okay, but we were disappointed that cocktails or cocktails weren't available.

Special Italian night chicken - Fontina & prosciutto stuffed chicken with spring vegetables. Bland, overcooked dry chicken breast with a little stuffing of crumbled dry bacon style bits which bore no resemblance to prosciutto. The fontina cheese, which is a melting cheese, nowhere to be found. Served with a gravox type gravy (not what would be served on any style of Italian chicken) and soft mushy overcooked vegetables - described as spring vegetables - consisting of some sliced overcooked zucchini, onion wedges, chunks of parsnips and carrots - not the spring vegetables I was expecting. The only saving grace was the tiramisu slice which was part of the 2 courses and the wine purchased separately which was required to compensate for the unpalatable meal. So disappointing - 3 of us ordered the special Italian night meal and we all agreed it was the worst meal we have had at the Castle Hill RSL club.

Great for grandkids for a mid week birthday. Everybody sorted between Wokafella and Bistro. Noisy enough that kids are not noticed. Just had problems when I tried to increase booking from 8 to 10 ,,, kept coming up as fully booked which it obviously wasn’t when we were there….?
