Perched atop The Newbury Hotel like a crown jewel, Contessa is a grand destination. Guests are welcomed from morning till night to a sunlit, rooftop restaurant with Art Deco references and mid-century modern detailing, offering sweeping views of Back Bay and the Boston Public Garden. Llegamos 5 minutos antes a nuestra reservacion y la Host (mujer) nos hizo esperar cuando a otros clientes los hacia pasar. Luego nos quiso sentar en una mesa alta y le manifeste que mi Esposa sufria de la espalda. La Host me respondio que se iba a demorar unos 20 minutos o mas para sentarnos en una mesa normal. Finalmente nos sentaron en una mesa cerca a la entrada donde no pudimos conocer el Restaurant. El servicio estuvo regular ya que no nos sirvieron la cesta de pan y la respuesta del mesonero es que se habian quedado sin pan. Se demoraron con las bebidas. La comida estuvo muy buena. Indiferentemente de las actitudes del host y el mesonero regresaremos a Contessa ya que nos gusta mucho el lugar. Gracias!

We have heard about Contessa for well over a year and finally got there. It was worth the wait. Ride to the 17th floor of the Newbury and enter another world - one of tastefully sumptuous ambience with superb "welcome to Contessa" service and food to die for. The view is amazing, especially from the tables for two along the windows, but make no mistake, this is not a view restaurant. A little pricey, but fair value, and the food is so delicious that we were sorry when each course came to an end. Parking is a challenge (other than an expensive valet option) but in good weather, nearby garages are less than a 10 minute walk. Give it a try! We are sorry we waited so long to get here.

10’s across the board. Went at night so didn’t get to see the view but I will most definitely be back for brunch. Staff went above and beyond to make sure our nights were perfect.

Food and ambience are fantastic. Service was a little interesting. We were asked to place our appetizer and entrée orders at the same time, per the chef's request (which isn't unusual), but were then slightly rushed through our meal. I had not finished my appetizer and was literally mid-bite when someone asked to take my plate and utensils to prepare for the entrees that would be coming out shortly. I'd like to be clear the service wasn't bad exactly, but everyone kept checking to see if we were finished, multiple times throughout our meal and it made me feel like we were being rushed, odd given the price point and otherwise how nice this restaurant is.
