Cognoscenti is a cosy neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar nestled in the Dandenong Ranges, 50 minutes from the CBD.

Dine with us and be treated to exquisite food and intimate service, while exploring our carefully curated selection of local and international wines. We are passionate about cooking with local, seasonal produce in our wood-fired oven; celebrating the simplicity of each ingredient.

    Unexpected! no offence to the foodies in Belgrave, but a beautiful little restaurant that serves all the classics with an extensive wine list, is normally something us Hill Dwellers have to go city side for. Tucked away next to a little cinema on the main street is a very cozy and welcoming establishment, I was recommended this place by my Daughter, and took my wife there for her birthday, What immediately impressed me, was the relaxed atmosphere and the ease at which we found ourselves, the wait staff were genuine and very helpful, giving great advice about what Cocktail would suit us before our meal. I went for a Old fashioned which was very nicely balanced, and had the oysters and the steak, accompanied by a lovely glass of Red, followed by a Basque Cheesecake. The oysters were very tasty, although I prefer mine a little less flavored, the Steak was beautifully cooked at the right temperature and served pre cut. The Cheesecake was a lovely surprise, even at the priciest resteraunts, they can come out a little dry, but the texture and flavor was superb. Yes I rather made a pig of myself and may need to rethink my wardrobe or actually stick to that training plan I promised at New Year, but suffice to say, you wont go hungry. It is not a cheap night, but the price is fair and commensurate with the quality of food and service. We will be back

    Food and service always exceptional. The pork belly was sublime. A wonderful restaurant where you can actually hear one another speak no matter how busy it is, always a joy.

    From the moment we walked in, the experience was fantastic. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. The staff were attentive and made our evening extra special with 2 little cakes with a written message in chocolate Happy Anniversary. The food is excellent .
