Inspired by the warmth and vibrancy of Jamaica’s culture and people, Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen is a take on traditional Jamaican cooking balanced with relevant culinary twists. Co-founded as a passion project by Gusto 54 founder Janet Zuccarini and Angela Lawrence, Gusto 54’s Chief Culture Officer, Chubby’s is a celebration of their long friendship, and their love and respect for the island’s food and all the amazing Jamaican cooks they know.

Located in a circa-1890 row house re-envisioned by Partisans Architects and interior designer Wendy Haworth, Chubby’s boasts two floors of seating, two bars, and two outdoor patios. It melds old and new, inside and out to create a transporting dining experience complete with delicious Caribbean cooking, eclectic design and soulful hospitality. Chubby's is also a Michelin Guide CA - rated restaurant.

I enjoyed experience at Chubby's. I went for Winterlicious Dinner because I love trying different restaurants and how they make their cuisine. Staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly. There were just a couple things that didn't make sense to me. There was no rice served with my entrée, we ordered the jerk chicken and it was served with delicious cole slaw, but the dish was missing the rice and peas, so I order it separately. Also we were dining during Happy Hour (website states 3pm-6pm Mon-Fri) but because we were ordering from the Winterlicious menu, we couldn't enjoy the Happy Hour drink discount. We would have ordered more drinks and a couple Happy Hour sides if we got the Happy Hour prices. But overall, it was great and I would dine there again.

My first time w Jamaican food and were delighted. We ordered Oxtail, goat, prawn, chicken, snapper. I loved the snapper and prawn especially. Carrot cake was outstanding too. Our server was brilliant!! The place was quite full and vibrant without being too noisy to talk. We will go again.

We went to Chubby's for the first time for my husband's birthday and were extremely impressed! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere is upbeat and fun. Would highly recommend it.

Winterlicious 2025 was the perfect time to sample the fare at Chubby’s. I must say I was impressed THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!! I was full after the appetizer (red bean oxtail soup -seasoned to perfection) so I just sampled the main (jerk chicken and coleslaw -leaving the rest for take home) and the dessert - carrot cake (chefs kiss) looked like pudding but tasted out of this world (and I’m not a fan of carrot cake). Such a great selection no wonder it received Michelin stars!

Great hidden gem of a restaurant. The food and drinks really make for a true authentic Caribbean experience. Especially during happy hours the prices are ridiculously incredible for a restaurant in this city. Friendly staff and great ambiance throughout the whole restaurant without too much background noise or music.
