Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Staunton VA, The Chop House Tavern elegantly showcases a refined take on Chef Ryan Zale's culinary creativity. Professionally executed by Sous Chef Brendan Almy, guests can expect the signature proteins and menu staples found on our sibling restaurants menus, (Local Chop and Grill House, Harrisonburg VA, and The Chop House Bistro, Luray VA) as well as delicious takes on comfort tavern food classics. Everything was delicious, from the specialty cocktails and baked chevre appetizer to our filets and duck fat fries (plus the deconstructed cheesecake to share)! Plus, our service was fantastic! They made our anniversary dinner extra special. We will definitely be back!

Great location and atmosphere! The food is amazing! We started with the Steak TarTare, my husband had the Elk Meatloaf and I had the Faroe Island Salmon with the Horseradish Crème Fraîche. My husband finished off his meal with the Deconstructed Cheesecake for dessert, which he said was wonderful. I am gluten free and they were very accommodating to my allergy and have plenty of options. Our server Logan was very attentive and is an amazing mixologist as he is a server and the bartender. I highly recommend Chop House Tavern and Logan as your server!

The salmon was perfectly cooked, so were the scallops. Asparagus and duck fries a tad bit heavy on the salt. Service, once again, excellent.

From the moment we walked in the door, our experience was exceptional! Jenn was our server and was absolutely amazing. She was very friendly and made some fabulous recommendations, and the food was delicious. I couldn’t recommend Chop House Tavern more!

We went for our anniversary. Food was excellent, service and ambience also were. We got a complimentary glass of champagne. We really like this restaurant!

Excellent first experience! The venue is elegant yet cozy. Our waitress was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. And the food and wine was excellent! From appetizers to dessert, we were impressed with every bite.

Excellent downtown Staunton restaurant! Top-notch team, very friendly and professional. Pacing of meal was done well. Good cocktail and wine list. Recommend to ask what liquor is in the drink you order as its not specified in menu and you'll get rail/well pour. We dined here back in November and the Filet wasn't great but we had Filet this time and noticed a considerable difference (for the better!) and once we inquired, they informed us they changed vendors for sourcing their steaks. Several sauces to choose from to accompany the Filet, all are great. Compliments to Chyna, our server, who was upbeat and very knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions based on our preferences. We can recommend the steaks, salads, soups and desserts- have not tried the elk meatloaf or the pork or the burger, maybe next time. This location has been through a few iterations/restaurants and it continues to be a beautiful restaurant with artwork surrounding you and the cleanest restrooms you'll find in any restaurant. Of note, their main location is in Harrisonburg and we have been there multiple times and even had a large event catered- always a great experience. We hope this Staunton location continues to be a success for them!
