Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Staunton VA, The Chop House Tavern elegantly showcases a refined take on Chef Ryan Zale's culinary creativity. Professionally executed by Sous Chef Brendan Almy, guests can expect the signature proteins and menu staples found on our sibling restaurants menus, (Local Chop and Grill House, Harrisonburg VA, and The Chop House Bistro, Luray VA) as well as delicious takes on comfort tavern food classics. Food, etc. was excellent. We had very nice young man as our waiter. He told us he is very new, so it took some time to get answers to a couple of questions and a very long time to get my credit card processed. We totally understand all of that. What stunned me was the price of my drink. I ordered a double Single Malt Scotch (started with an "Mc...?" and it cost $38!!! We weren't shown the spirits menu with prices. I would never have ordered that Scotch if I had known. Glad you are here.. anxious to try other things on your menu. Pam Huggins

Our server was excellent, attentive, knowledgeable. Food was generous and tasty. Toward the end of the evening (8:45 pm), once again, no one was at the Host stand to say "Thank You" or "Have a good evening." There should be someone there. However, there were two employees sitting at the bar looking at their phones.

Amazing food and service. We went for my husbands birthday, they gave him a sweet plate with minted chocolate. Decorated beautifully and the staff was amazing

This was my 3rd time at Chop House Tavern. This particular night, I was with girlfriends. Ambience is very nice with low lights and tasteful decor. The Tavern Burger with fries was very good as was the Faroe Island Salmon. I was disappointed that Béarnaise sauce is not an option for steaks under “sauces” which would have been the perfect accompaniment to my Filet Mignon. My steak was a little overcooked and for $37, it would have been nice to include two sides, rather than just one. Wine was nice and reasonable at $9/glass. My last visit was not good at all (the duck was horrible, as was the service). We really need top-tier restaurants in Staunton, so I am hopeful the restaurant will continue to improve.

Chop House Tavern is a lovely dining experience! The wait staff simply could not be more professional and attentive. The ambience of the restaurant is cozy and comfortable. I appreciate the commitment to using as much local food as possible and it is always delicious. This new Tavern is a welcome addition to the Staunton dining scene!

So happy to have Chop House Tavern in Staunton. The ambience of the restaurant is warm, cozy -think elegant library vibes minus the stuffiness of a library. The food is outstanding, the wine selection is curated, cocktails are innovative and dessert is delish. The staff is fantastic. Welcoming, kind, knowledgeable, non-intrusive. I took my parents for my Dad's birthday last evening and we had the most wonderful time. Thank you all so much for accommodating our specials need as well-my Mom has dementia and going out to eat isn't always smooth. Chop House Staff was incredibly gracious and kind to her and it was the most enjoyable dinner with her I have had in months. THANK YOU ALL!
