Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

To say our experience at Charlie’ L’etoile Verte was excellent is an understatement. We have been trying to go there for dinner for our last few visits to Hilton Head Island, and last night we finally made it happen. From the wonderful bottle of Margaux (half price wine on Monday nights!) to the amazing crêpe Suzette dessert everything was perfect. The lobster bisque and crab and avocado appetizers were absolutely delicious, and the flounder and the special sheepshead with black garlic sauce entrees where two of the most exceptional and fresh Fish presentations we’ve enjoyed in a long time. Our server Amanda was simply wonderful, pleasant, helpful, and attentive. We look forward to going back on a return visit. 5 stars! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Always a solid choice for seafood, service and wine. Highly recommend asking Margaret for her opinion about the paint wine with your apps and entrees.

Best piece of trout I've ever eaten! First time I've ordered it at Charlie's. New fave! Husband thoroughly enjoyed his duck which he orders there often. We dined at a high top in the bar which is always great at this restaurant. Mark and Thaddeus were hustling non stop as it was very busy. Seats at the bar and tables only stayed empty for a minute - continuous turnover so I won't fault them for a few missteps in the service - forgotten napkin, forgotten water refill. Everything was taken care of eventually and it was a really great meal out at Charlie's - as always.

Never had a bad experience before but last night was so disappointing. Food was good as usual, service was really bad! Multiple staff passed by empty water glasses and even after asking for more water, it never came. I ordered my meal and informed the server that I couldn’t have cheese so please leave that off, my dinner salad was brought out with soft crumbled cheese on it. Not a huge deal, but waited another 10 mins before a different staff member walked by and asked if there was an issue. After the bill came we waited for almost 15 mins to take our credit card so we just paid cash and left. So not what we’ve come to expect.
