The Casuarina Tree Restaurant and Bar is located in a former pub close to Mitcham’s tram stops and only a short way from Ravensbury and Poulter parks. Attractively designed to create a clean, modern space, the Casuarina Tree combines the original features of the old building such as wood beams and bay windows with contemporary furnishings in bold blacks and reds. This relaxed, unhurried setting is where Mitcham diners enjoy Asian fusion cuisine with a sprinkling of Continental inspiration too. The Casuarina Tree kitchen works creatively with ingredients, taking inspiration from the traditional but refining those dishes to suit the more curious and harder to please modern palate. The menu here is heavy on the Indian side of things, offering both favourite curry house choices and lesser known regional specialties, but also displays a range of main dishes from Sri Lanka and China too, all eminently affordable but of the highest quality too.

Celebrated my Dads 60th Birthday. Staff were very friendly and polite. Nice atmosphere although there was a bar there.

My friends and I visited Casuarina Tree in Mitcham for Sunday lunch. It was empty when we arrived at 12.30pm and still empty when we left around 3pm, which was unfortunate as it meant the pub/restaurant lacked atmosphere. The Indian and Sri Lankan menu was extensive and very reasonably priced, with a host of vegetarian options on offer. The waitress was friendly and the service was efficient. I'm not sure if I would go back though, as the food was nothing out of the ordinary.

The large, half-timbered, Crown has had a massive make-over and is now the Casuarina. It has new private parking at the rear with modern furniture and decorations of high quality including high-backed chairs and real linen napkins for diners. Cuisine is mainly Sri lankan and we cannot over recommend their "Chicken 65" (no 12 on the menu) as a spicy starter. Various Tikkas, Kebabs, Dopiazas or Tandoori dishes made for an most accomlished meal. Cobra is on tap. A real find in a culinary desert.

Came here with a party of 5. The resteraunt is very well decorated, nice ambience and food is delicious. They serve a variety of south indian and chinese dishes which are very different to your run of the mill indian resteraunts. The chicken in black bean sauce and crispy duck were excellent. The chef was amenable to some suggestions that weren't on the menu which was a nice touch. Service was extremely friendly. The food is good value for money and shall definitely return
