Breathing new life into the iconic 1800s building at 39 Main Street, Mornington, Casa de Playa is a contemporary restaurant, café, tapas bar and events venue that brings the best of the big smoke coffee culture and bar scene to the chic and savvy folks of the east. Requested the upper levels but when hot there was told there is a wedding so not able to get our request. Would have been nice to have been told that seeing how I spoke with the restaurant on the day to changed the time. The food was amazing and plentiful, but again they had run out of prawns so was disappointed All in all good very good. Was very busy but did not have to wait long for the meals

Fabulous food - paella was truly delicious. Service was ok, but would be lovely if wait staff had smiles on their faces. They weren’t particularly friendly, which was disappointing. Great food though.

Would definitely recommend the food here.....especially the Semolina Crusted Calamari! We also shared a Chipotle Chicken Naco dish between 3 of us, and it was delicious as well as being enough :)) The staff were friendly and helpful. Worth a try :)

We had a tapas menu, with some of the dishes being great but others were just ok. Most needed more flavour to get them to the next level. Good value overall and the venue was nice.

These guys (your FOH staff) need to get out more and see how other venues operate, sorry we disturbed you yesterday. Pity your place is quite cool and would have loved to given you a great review, but can't believe not one of your FOH cracked a smile yesterday and seemed like they did not want to be there at all.

Food was for the most part great. Service was really lacking considering the restaurant was not busy. The meat patty in the kids hamburger was the size of a 50 cent piece! We weren’t given menus and had to call a waiter over to get these and order a drink. Unfortunately the lacking service made for a disappointing dining experience.

Service was bad. We waited 1 hour for the first food to arrive. Terribly cooked calamari, despite being a Spanish favourite. Terrible service. Terrible music. Terrible experience.

Menu was great. Service was slow and disinterested. Table as really dark and could have at least done with a candle on the table. Fish tacos and dips were delicious, but dips were served with the smallest amount of bread possible (we had to order and pay for more). Paella (the reason we came to this restaurant) was served burnt. It looked and tasted burnt, my husband took it back and was told it was supposed to be that way. Smallest serve of rose wine also. Could have been lovely but overall too many disappointing parts to the experience.
