Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: The music is loud, the jerk chicken is hot, and the cocktails are colorful at Canje, the East Austin hotspot from chef and Guyanese native Tavel Bristol-Joseph. In a lively space decked with palm fronds and tropical wallpaper, dig into Caribbean-inspired dishes like Guyanese-style roti and West Indian curry that earned Bristol-Joseph his first James Beard nod.

Ring in the New Year at Canje with a six-course menu that celebrates prosperity, unity, and the resilient spirit of Caribbean heritage; a journey through flavors and stories rooted in ancestral wisdom, cultural fusion, and the celebration of a hopeful future. Please note: This menu is $125 per person. Our standard a la carte menu will not be available. All checks will include a gratuity of 20%. If you need to modify or cancel your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. Less than 24 hour notice may result in a $50 cancellation fee per person. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have any dietary restrictions by adding them to the “special request’” area. Call us at 512-706-9119 with any questions!

The food was delicious but it was very warm in the restaurant. They brought a fan to our table, so this is obviously something that happens on a regular basis. It was not hot outside so not sure why the AC cannot keep up. Unfortunately we would have stayed for dessert, but were pretty toasty so we chose to skip.

The food was excellent, delicious flavors. I did notice this time the curry came out only slightly warm instead of hot like it has in the past, it still tasted great still but a little disappointing. The ceviche and roti were top notch.

Once again the team at Canje knock it out of the park. Tavel and team create the most remarkable experience. The food is beyond anything else you’ve experienced. Every time I’m in town I am never disappointed

Unique and delicious food. The Smoked Avocado Escabeche was my favorite dish. The Cassareep Ice Cream was delightful.

My wife and I had dinner for milestone birthday and it did not disappoint. My only compliant is that they done offer a place to take naps after a delicious meal.

Thank u for making my little family bday dinner feel so special. Our meal was perfect in every way. Beautifully executed and each dish exceeded expectations. Our server Joon was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We loved his suggestions for cocktails -on and off menu- as well dishes that would complement each other. Everyone that tended to our table was very welcoming. Hope to be back soon!
