Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

In a lively space decked with palm fronds and tropical wallpaper, dig into Caribbean-inspired dishes like Guyanese-style roti and West Indian curry that earned Bristol-Joseph his first James Beard nod.

    Ring in the New Year at Canje with a six-course menu that celebrates prosperity, unity, and the resilient spirit of Caribbean heritage; a journey through flavors and stories rooted in ancestral wisdom, cultural fusion, and the celebration of a hopeful future. Please note: This menu is $125 per person. Our standard a la carte menu will not be available. All checks will include a gratuity of 20%. If you need to modify or cancel your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. Less than 24 hour notice may result in a $50 cancellation fee per person.     This was our second time eating here, and it was so much better than I remember (and I remember falling in love with the food)! Our server was so kind and helpful, the food was phenomenal -we got the ceviche, Jamaican bread and cheese, pepperpot and roti on the side- and the drinks were amazing (the First Dance is my favorite cocktail all time). I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you want to try a new cuisine that you don’t see in every city!

    Canje is one of the best restaurants in Austin - the food is consistently good. Last night we enjoyed the avocado escabeche, plantain chips, West Indian curry, and jerk chicken + rice and roti. Every bite was delicious. As good as it is, Canje is one of those increasingly common super-loud restaurants. But, last night we sat on the covered patio and it was perfect. We'll definitely come again for excellent food and a comfortable setting.

    The food was delicious but it was very warm in the restaurant. They brought a fan to our table, so this is obviously something that happens on a regular basis. It was not hot outside so not sure why the AC cannot keep up. Unfortunately we would have stayed for dessert, but were pretty toasty so we chose to skip.

    Staff is friendly and helpful in selecting portions, etc. Great cocktails and interesting, tasty dishes you won’t find at other restaurants. Quite a unique experience!

    The food was excellent, delicious flavors. I did notice this time the curry came out only slightly warm instead of hot like it has in the past, it still tasted great still but a little disappointing. The ceviche and roti were top notch.

    Once again the team at Canje knock it out of the park. Tavel and team create the most remarkable experience. The food is beyond anything else you’ve experienced. Every time I’m in town I am never disappointed

    Unique and delicious food. The Smoked Avocado Escabeche was my favorite dish. The Cassareep Ice Cream was delightful.
