Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: The music is loud, the jerk chicken is hot, and the cocktails are colorful at Canje, the East Austin hotspot from chef and Guyanese native Tavel Bristol-Joseph. In a lively space decked with palm fronds and tropical wallpaper, dig into Caribbean-inspired dishes like Guyanese-style roti and West Indian curry that earned Bristol-Joseph his first James Beard nod.

Belated Anniversary weekend - this was our second time dining at Canje. It was absolutely delicious. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. There was not one bite that did not please the palate. Yum! Yum! Yum!

Honestly felt robbed with the value. Very expensive and was an average dinner. Maybe I am spoiled coming from Washington DC but “the best restaurant in Austin” was mediocre and expensive. Tasting menu was $125 per person and we split a steak? One of the courses was an empanada? I’ve never had a worse value in regard to a tasting menu. I will never go back and will never recommend. Very disappointing.

The food was outstanding and not overly heavy. The staff were friendly and just the right amount of attentive. The vibes were immaculate.

Bartenders were great. Food was delicious. They gifted us the pineapple and watermelon, which was a nice treat.

Great food! The back private dining area was a little cold even though it was enclosed. Service was great.
