Edinburgh's hidden gem! Traditional oyster bar and restaurant serving fine food and a great selection of continental lagers, beers and local ales.

We're proud of our history without being complacent and we love to see a happy customer. We've always focused on making our pub unique and we are sure you will notice. So pull up a seat, take a tour round our pub and discover what sets us apart from the rest.

** Please note all bookings are for our restaurant, we offer first come first served for drinks in our bar area.

*** Please note due to licencing restrictions under 18's are not permitted in the main bar, we can seat under 18's and over 5's in the restaurant for dining. We cannot allow under 18's in the restaurant after 10pm.

**** As we are a listed building we do not have Accessible toilets on the ground floor.

Uno de mis locales favoritos en Edimburgo. Viví en esta fantástica ciudad un año y este local me enamoró, he vuelto y no ha perdido un ápice de encanto y calidad.

This seems a busy restaurant so if you want to dine here I would advise making a reservation. The menu choices were good as were the portions.

My husband and I had a great meal here on Valentines night. I would probably have given it 5 stars but my husband couldn't find much he liked on the menu as he's a fussy eater and not keen on fish. On the other hand I was spoilt for choice! Just check the menu beforehand if one of your party is odd like him lol. I had sirloin steak and he had the cheeseburger. We had rum and dark chocolate tart for dessert. We both really enjoyed our meals and the service was perfect, friendly but not intrusive. There was a great atmosphere here. The restaurant part is quieter than the attached bar but still has a pleasant buzz about it. I would definitely recommend.

Our only issue was that our table by the door was a little cold. Having said that, we didn’t ask to move, so it wasn’t too bad. Everything else was excellent. Brilliant whisky options

I was looking forward to a unique experience given the wonderful art, decor, period setting and history, but the dining itself was underwhelming. Very tight eating area with a table of 7 loud bankers behind us in a room that takes 28 made for challenging conversation. Scotch egg, haggis and soda bread not available. Food was OK, but it all lacked the magic I had hoped would be there. It was a Monday night after a rugby weekend, so maybe that affected performance / delivery? Maybe I’m being harsh, but you asked for my feedback.

Lovely atmosphere, especially on match days! Absolutely the best fish and chips we have ever had!
