Café de Martín (Mar-teen) brings the flavors of Peru to Tallahassee! The man behind the restaurant is Chef Martín, originally from Lima, Peru. He has marked his influence in Leon County's Hispanic community for his outstanding Peruvian cuisine. With Peru always in his heart, Chef Martín continues to lead Tallahassee's gastronomic revolution with new culinary additions serving Peruvian classics such as Papas en salsa Huancaina, Pastel de Choclo, and Aji de Gallina to name a few. Servers were rude. Service was extremely slow despite there being only a few patrons in the restaurant. The food was good but I’ll never return due to the rudeness of several of the waiters.

I had high hopes for Café de Martin when I made a Valentine’s Day reservation for 8:30 PM, but unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. After waiting to be seated, it took 30 minutes just to have our drink order taken. While waiting, we both stepped away for about five minutes to use the restroom, only to return and find that our table had been given to someone else. When our drinks finally arrived, mine didn’t match the online menu—it was supposed to have garnishes and a black flower but came with neither. Then, we waited nearly an hour for our food, which was a complete letdown. My meal had a terrible aftertaste, and my boyfriend’s dish arrived cold. Neither of us could eat our food, yet we still paid $120 and tipped the waiter before leaving. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I had hoped for a special Valentine’s dinner but left unimpressed and unsatisfied. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

Was told we had to wait 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. Our food took over one hour to come out when tables seated after us were getting served quicker. Server never came back back to check ONCE while the hour wait of our food to see if we needed refills or anything. Food was ok. Did not need to take over an hour to cook simple plates. Service was terrible. Had high hopes but will probably never go back.

Despite having made advance reservations through Open Table for 2/13, the restaurant was clearly not prepared for our arrival. There were no tables reserved for us and they offered a small table next to the bar and a table with a very large and loud party. I explained that I had made advance reservations through Open Table and the young waiter shrugged and said they had nothing else available. We said that was unacceptable and left. Very disappointing experience. We've eaten at this restaurant numerous times and had good experiences, until this time. I'll keep this in mind if we decide to eat there again.

The food is excellent. Try the seafood ceviche. It is very tasty and fresh. The restaurant has a very cozy ambiance. We went on a Friday night and the service was extremely slow. We only saw the server twice. We couldn't find her to get the check at the end of the meal. Another server was kind enough to stop by to help out. We'll probably be back since we love the food but will ask for a different server next time.

We sat inside, pleasant atmosphere. It was too cold to sit outside, but from afar it looked like a nice place to go at night if it was warmer. For the price, there wasn't enough chicken in my dish. The noodles were overcooked, and the garlic bread consisted of two small slivers of bread that were not seasoned enough to be called garlic bread. The server was nice.
