Food was mostly very nice, although granita was unusual and not to my taste and dessert/ truffles were too rich and heavy for us. Service was fine at first but was very slow for the last two courses, when we were ignored while the waiter focused on clearing tables. Unfortunately this ruined our experience- when we gave up waiting for our truffles and asked for our bill (thinking this would be brought along with the final element of our New Year’s Eve set dinner) the bill came minus truffles- we asked for our truffles and were told ‘they’re on the way’ - no apology or explanation. Sad because we’ve been coming to Burnt Truffle for new year for a few years but won’t go again

We received a warm welcome and service was at just the right level of attentiveness throughout the meal. Excellent food. Vegan food prepared specially was beautiful. The wine flight was splendid and very well matched to each course. We have come for the tasting menu several times at New Year and always had a really good experience. We particularly enjoyed the unhurried approach. An issue with the bill was dealt with graciously, discreetly and efficiently.

It was our first time away from home at Christmas and I didn't expect the meal to be as exceptional as it was. We Had a traditional Christmas dinner and everything was so good including the service and staff. We live in London so will probably never return again which is a shame.

We loved our first Christmas Day at Burnt Truffle everyone made our day special and of course the food and drinks were spectacular

service was poor , staff were obviously over stretched , food was average at best , nothing like our past experiences.

I love this bistro - the food is of such good quality and always so delicious- the lady who served us was so helpful and friendly and all in all we had a lovely evening. I eat there quite a lot but my friends hadn’t eaten there but I think they will be going back.

The goats cheese beetroot salad was very heavy on the beetroot with no walnuts at all. Disappointing as a firm favourite of ours in the past. The roast beef was tough with really inedible edges, almost like bought in not roasted in house. No green beans. Again very different from past exceptional experiences, and no better than anywhere else in Heswall. Noise levels were stupid high as there was a family party next to us. We should have been seated upstairs, they were so noisy we couldn’t wait to leave! Not the restaurant fault however and we fully knowledge this.
