From tranditional sushi, to Asian fusion dishes; delicious bento to gourmet homemade dessert, we got them all here for you.
My greatest joy comes from finding the highest quality ingredients and creating the taste i imagine for each fish, whether it be raw, salted with seaweed, or pickled and fermented with vinegar; it all depends on what is best for that individual piece.
Our executive chef and owner Gary devotes his passion and skill to provide delicious, authertic sushi and Japanese cultural food, in order to warm people's hearts worldwide

I recently moved from Los Angeles so I've had incredible sushi experiences and have been lucky to befriended some of the best Sushi Chefs in Southern California. As I transition to San Diego a lot of the highly-rated Sushi places on Yelp have largely been focused on Sushi Rolls (nothing wrong with that) but personally for myself the best experience is usually the opportunity to engage the sushi chefs at the sushi bar and listen to how the sushi was prepared vs getting a tray of sushi that needs wasabi and soy sauce. To each their own but I can say that if you want a true sushi dining experience then Boto Sushi Del Mar provides that. It is a cute little restaurant and one of the longest sushi bars I've seen outside of Nobu or Roku. I had Omakasa by Chef Gary and everything was close to perfection with a variety of different dishes aside from the core Nigori sushi and some Sashmi. Each dish was delivered individually and explained how it was prepared by either the Chef or by the great staff. Enjoyed my first real exploration of Sushi in North County and will be back.

We’re frequent diners at Boto Sushi Del Mar, and on Valentine’s Day, we walked in to find the restaurant fully booked with a line. Thankfully, we had made a reservation, or we would’ve ended up waiting for over an hour. Beyond the clean, welcoming atmosphere and the convenience of hassle-free parking, the main reason we keep coming back to Boto Sushi is the exceptional freshness of their raw fish. This is a non-negotiable for us. We never worry about the quality of their sushi, as we’ve never experienced raw fish that tastes off or isn’t up to standard. The consistency in their quality is why we trust them every time. We’ll certainly continue returning to Boto Sushi Del Mar. The only downside? They’re closed on Sundays, which is a bit of a bummer.

I left my wife’s birthday meal in Gary’s hands and he did not disappoint. Gary and his team have my full trust in providing the best sushi experience in SoCal.

FRESH & UNIQUE! The service was outstanding, everyone was incredibly kind and had great recommendations on new things for us to try. I’ve never had such fresh nigiri! The salmon, toro and jack mackerel were our favorites. Beautiful spot, we will absolutely be back!

The food is excellent but the customer service could use a lot of improvement. For starters, the restaurant was nearly empty when we went for dinner on Halloween night, but the hostess asked us if we had reservations and then proceeded to make us wait to be seated. And even though there were three people in our party and only one other set of diners, she gave us only one menu. When we asked for more menus, she brought us only one more even though she could clearly see there were three of us. Once our food came, the waitress kept hovering around and near us, and pounced on any empty dish she saw in our table even if it meant leaning over one of us or interrupting our conversation to ask if she could clear the empty dish or pass it to her. After bringing us our check, she again hovered around and started to clean up while we were trying to box our leftovers and calculate the tip.

Gary and his staff are second to none. The Omakase course is the best in SoCal and I challenge you to find a better sushi restaurant.

Gary and his staff have done it again! In celebration of my wife’s promotion, there was no other option when it comes to Omakase in San Diego County. Service, presentation, and sake selection is second to none. Thanks Gary for another great experience!
