We brought 6 of us for the tasting menu. It was our second visit and won’t be our last. All I can say is SO MUCH FOOD! By the time the main course came we were already full. Great variety, spice and exceptional quality. Wish there was more room - but that’s NYC. Tight quarters. Our waiter (Anthony) was a repeat from our last visit. It seems we always come on his birthday week. He’s terrific.

We did the family style group dinner. It’s a great idea and concept! There was a TON of food, maybe too much haha. We had leftovers at each course and they’d offer to box up. We were going out after (for a birthday celebration) so just declined based on not wanting to carry around. Most of it was amazing! Loved: Pork ends Pimento cheese Homemade doritos Chicken wings Squash All the pastas Ribs - a little spicy if you’re sensitive to that, but personally loved the seasoning Didn’t love: Wines Hush puppies were dry Fried cod was dry Fried chicken Was there dessert? Not sure, wasn’t offered a coffee or dessert after third course was being cleared. Maybe they had an upcoming res and needed us out. Or the waiter was still in shock and just wanted us out after accidentally pouring chicken wing sauce all over my white sweater and jeans during the first course. Luckily I wore an undershirt so we could run my white sweater under the sink in the back and let it hang to dry. It was still orange and wet when we were leaving, but the waiter kindly put it in a to-go bag for me. Candidly, my sweater getting ruined and having to sit there in an undershirt for the dinner and the rest of our group’s night does factor into the final score of good. I did get my glass of wine comp’d, and told to email the receipt of my dry cleaning bill. But unfortunately, it happened early on in the evening and the mood sort of changed. I felt like I kept it very cool, no worries, no problem to not create chaos in the very small space, but felt like our waiter then should have compensated with high energy or over-attention. (I had to ask for a new napkin well into second course since my first one got drenched in the wing sauce as well. Incident happened when clearing first course.).

Great pre-fixe menu. I highly recommend the tagliatelle pasta with the pork ragu. Nice variety of appetizers, but all excellent and yummy! I

Excellent dinner, so many things to try and great portions. Everything delicious, it’s a bit small of a space but they totally make it work. Highly recommend!

We had such a wonderful Sunday dinner here--for a party of 7, the family style Chef's Tasting was perfect. The food was plentiful, really varied, and delicious. We started with generous appetizers, then four (five?) kinds of pasta, and just when we thought we couldn't eat anymore, the entrees (fried chicken, baby back ribs, and fried catfish) arrived. Our server was warm and friendly, and paced the meal just right. We will definitely be back--I can't recommend Bird Dog highly enough, especially if you have a larger party and want a fun, relaxing evening.
