Bettys is famous for afternoon tea, and if you want to experience the finest we offer, book your table in the Belmont Room, York. This beautiful, historic room - located on the first floor of our York tea room - is steeped in history and provides the perfect setting for our most exquisite afternoon tea. You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a selection of savouries, indulgent sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible dainty cakes and scones.     Excellent experience. Would have been improved if coats had been taken on arrival. A small thing but important. Food A1.

    To be honest I was extremely disappointed with the entire experience. The sandwiches were really poor, service was poor an overall mediocre experience for a lot of money.

    Flexibly fitted us in an hour early. Plenty of nice food and drink, plus extra during and to go on request. Attentive service without being intrusive.

    The festive afternoon tea was lovely, the food was excellent. Every single food item of the afternoon tea was great. There was a piano player throughout which was also good. The only problem was the service throughout. There were two more mature servers who were fantastic and attentive but the younger girls weren’t great at all. One issue was the lack of service, we were offered initial drinks but were then left trying to gain attention from someone to get more. I struggled to enjoy the food as I couldn’t get anyone’s attention to get a drink. The young waitress then took away one of our plates half way through eating one of the sweets. We had to ask to keep another plate so one of our group could finish which felt very rushed (we’d been there less than an hour). I wanted to order some mulled wine to finish off the experience but was brought the bill and asked if I wanted the card machine so didn’t get this drink either. I then paid the bill for another young waitress to come over asking me to pay again. All in all, the food is exceptional, the service was variable. We had one lady who was fantastic but the others could do with further training.

    The whole tea service and afternoon tea menu were so good I struggle to choose which part was best! Excellent food and drink all around. Very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. Service was perfect, not overly attended and someone was quickly available when needed. The Rwandan tea and Chinese White tea were a real pleasure. May be the best scones I've ever tasted - soft texture and not dry or crumbly at all. Not cheap but well worth it. Enjoyed the piano interpretations too.

    Afternoon tea in Betty’s Belmont Room - what a lovely way to spend Christmas Eve. Scrummy food, plentiful refills, relaxing piano playing and absolutely exceptional service from all staff but in particular from Anne who looked after us so well. Thank you everyone.
