This beautiful, historic room - located on the first floor of our York tea room - is steeped in history and provides the perfect setting for our most exquisite afternoon tea.     Excellent place to spend an evening. Food and tea were really good, refined and plentiful. Service was outstanding and there was nice soft live piano music creating a wonderful atmosphere. I would definitely suggest a visit to Bettys whenever you travel to York.

    A great experience. We found the first pianist to be a little loud but the second one pitched things far better. Food was great. For me, I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion but I think it is quite expensive

    I had such fond memories of Betty’s from my student days and decided to treat my family to what I thought would be a truly special afternoon tea. What a huge disappointment! I had pre-booked a table for 4 in the Belmont Room and our party arrived a little early. We were admitted, but given the last table right at the very end of the room which felt completely cut off from the rest and left 2 of us facing a wall with the entirety of the restaurant behind us. When it eventually came, the food was good, but we had to wait an age for it and the service really should have been better throughout. The staff did the bare minimum required, but were certainly not attentive and did nothing to make us feel like we were valued customers. They did not bother to check if we needed anything else, or to clear the plates and glasses we no longer needed; they merely brought additional plates for the cakes at some point and would have left it at that if we had not used the opportunity to request some additional items. Given where we were seated, it was probably easy for the staff to overlook us and it seemed that they also just had too few staff on duty to offer a more personal service. It really felt like a production line. Overall, what should have been a really special family celebration turned out to be a dreadfully overpriced and mediocre experience. I truly regret paying such an extortionate amount for this rather average food and poor service when we could have had a really delicious dinner, a far nicer ambience and excellent service elsewhere. Sorry, Betty’s, but we shan’t be coming back.

    Exceptional service from Eva during the festive afternoon tea. Would highly recommend when visiting York.

    We have been to the Bettys tea rooms many times in different locations, however service was very poor. Took 35 mins to get some more drinks and waited 45 mins for another sandwich, had to call manager in end who was very helpful. Just lack of communication when server going for a break, and lack of follow up with guests and attentive service.

    Some of the sandwich flavours wasn't the best and the chocolate fancy was far to chocolatey The service wasn't the best we kept having to go and ask for a top up when last time they came to us quite regularly, brought us the wrong drink but we didn't get charged for it which was good It was definitely better last time we came

    Went to Betty's for the festive afternoon tea, and it was excellent! The staff provide an amazing service and the food is great too. We will definitely be going again.
