This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

Ordered lamb and arrived in a timely manner. However, it was overcooked and tough. We mentioned to server and they brought us a new plate of lamb which was a thousands times better-appearance and taste And they removed from bill. My question is why did they serve the first dish which looked like it was left over from the previous night. We will not be back. Food value was way overpriced.

Heard from so many people that we NEEDED to go and this restaurant was definitely worth all the hype. Our waiter/bartender Graham gave us excellent recommendations for first-timers. All the food was delicious with good portions. We’ll be back again!

Sat at the bar for brunch, served by an excellent bartender--a real craftsman--patient explaining the ingredients of the cocktails. Drinks and food was terrific. My only minor criticisms are that the seats at the bar essentially have no backs and are horribly uncomfortable. There is no reason chairs with backs can't be used. Secondly, they offered no black tea, only herbal. I'm not a coffee drinker, but needed that morning caffeine and no tea option was available. Again, no reason not to offer that, especially at brunch.

Everything that we ordered was amazing! The staff made great dish and drink recommendations. The seating was close and cozy making all of the shareable dishes easy to reach. Our favorite was the highball and the fried mushrooms, definitely a must try! Thanks for a great dinner!
