We are Bad Shepherd Brewing Co., a boutique microbrewery and restaurant. The brainchild of husband and wife team, Dereck and Diti Hales, our brewpub focuses on creating a unique and inviting venue to enjoy fine craft beer and good old fashioned comfort food.

The beer list makes a feature of Bad Shepherd’s own award winning creations, including the much celebrated Peanut Butter Porter and the uniquely local Victoria Pale Ale. With a focus on supporting Victorian and local small business, our guests can also make the most of guest taps as well as boutique Victorian wines and spirits.

A good tap list alone doesn't make a brewpub, however; it needs a food menu to match. That is: great beer on tap and American style comfort food, including smoked meats from their own smoker like pulled pork, brisket, and plenty of slaw.

I took my daughter there for Fathers Day dinner for the early 6pm sitting. When we ordered we found out they had no ribs either Pork or Lamb and no wings. My daughter is gluten intolerant and only gluten free option was gluten free buns but nothing is gluten free that can go into them.

We had a mixed experience at Bad Shepherd Brewing Co. The staff were excellent; friendly, helpful and very accommodating. They were clearly understaffed in the kitchen, as plates came to the table sporadically and out of order - for example mains and entrees came together. The food was very tasty though, and none of our group was disappointed by what they had ordered. We would return, hopefully on an evening when they were not experiencing difficulties in the kitchen.

Our corn salad was mistakenly brought to another table. Once the mistake was realised which was about 5-10mins later, the waiter took it from another table and put it on ours saying it hadn't been touched. Why not give us a new one given covid and also just general hygiene? Sausage with not good, blue cheese dressing tasted like watered down dressing and was tasteless, service was pretty much non existent aside from putting food down on our table.

Fantastic lunch, perfect food and beers! Unfortunately, like everywhere it seemed a bit understaffed but staff were super helpful and friendly!

The meat is amazing. So tasty and perfectly cooked. The chicken wings were delicious! Pity some of the salads like the corn salad We’re sold out. Regardless the food is magnificent. Highly recommended.
