Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: Bacanora abrió sus puertas en el centro de Phoenix en 2021 y causó tal impacto a nivel nacional que le llovieron los elogios del New York Times, Esquire y otros medios locales. Más tarde, Rene Andrade recibió el premio James Beard al mejor chef del suroeste en 2024. The social media buzz surrounding this restaurant doesn’t align with the actual dining experience. The menu relies on the same core ingredients across multiple dishes, leading to a lack of variety and an overall average taste. After dining here, both my guest and I experienced stomach discomfort the next morning. I sampled several dishes: the bone marrow was mediocre, the frijole dip and cucumber salad were disappointing, the elote was underwhelming, the pork ribs were good, and the rotating agua fresca was outstanding. Many dishes shared identical ingredients— for instance, the bone marrow used the same salad and vinaigrette as the cucumber salad, and the pork ribs had components similar to the frijole dip. This resulted in a monotonous flavor profile with little distinction between dishes. For a similar price but a significantly better dining experience, I highly recommend Chilte down the street, which offers a much more dynamic and diverse menu.

Food was not as good as seen on other reviews. The charred flavor was there on the meat but the pork was overcooked and both entrees (chicken and pork with beans and vegetables) weren’t seasoned very well. The atmosphere and service were great. Though, not worth the price.

Cozy and lively atmosphere. Had the dive feel going but clean and organized. The service was prompt and the host was well informed on the menu. We will be back.

The food and service was excellent. Your reservation is for 90 minutes so order early and ask how long the dishes take. We ordered the steak which takes 45 minutes which was very good so make sure you order that when you first get seated

Wonderful. A total immersion into blending flavors, from the Elite with a spicy cream sauce to the mussels in warm broth with wine and corn. The pollo asado was cooked to perfection with side of tortillas, potatoes, beans, a flavorful bun of chiles all cooked over a mesquite grill. The margaritas are cold, smooth and refreshing. Service was great, the staff was excited and happy and worked well in the small space. Our server Loghan was a delight!

Every experience that I’ve had here has been wonderful. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Rene has done a great job of ensuring that every visit feels like it’s your first time with his revolving menu. The birria and short rib asada is to die for. The flavors and smells of the kitchen remind me of home in Michoacan.
