Our aim is to be the central hub of the community, The Axe and Compasses is a traditional British village pub dating back to 1628, serving a wide and varied selection of quality lagers, cask conditioned ales, fine wines, and premium spirits.
We cater for parties from 1 to 200 guests and have menus for every occasion.
The main bar is the hub of the pub and in the cooler months is a lovely spot for drinks and casual dining, there are two wood burning stoves either end to keep you all snug.
The dining room is spacious and airy with a pitched roof with three fabulous pink chandeliers. There are three semi private spaces all with banquette seating and very versatile so can be used for standing canapé drinks parties or intimate semi private dining. The dining room is available for full private dining, Birthday celebrations, engagements, weddings, baby showers and celebrations of life. In the summer months enjoy our decked terrace, outside bar and alfresco dining served from our burger shack

We cater for engagements, weddings, Birthdays and celebrations of life. <br />In the summer months our garden terrace can be hired exclusively for large events.

So very happy we decided to come back to the Axe and Compasses after a couple of years, and what a surprise! The decor in the bar and restaurant was amazing, only surpassed by the quality of the food which was excellent. Just a tiny moan, had requested a table in the bar but was a little disappointed to be seated in the restaurant but it didn't affect our super lunch! Can't wait to come back and will certainly recommend to all our friends.

We have dined here a number of time since its reopening. The first Sunday roast was amazing. We have had many lunches with good reviews. But today was not great. The first was the extortionate price of spirits £15.50 for a double spirit and lemonade! Then the pizza was a spicy sausage! The sausage was not spicy whatsoever. We had 5 roasts the beef was tough and not very warm . The staff were very pleasant. Overall quite a disappointing visit. We will probably return but not for a roast

Really good food and service even on a quiet Thursday lunchtime. Tapas menu looks good, will be back to try it.

First time with the new axe and compass team, beautiful decor in which to dine in, service and food was great even though I would have preferred more fish on the menu, the only downside was constant freezing drafts by people coming in and out of the back door of the dining area.

The 25 minute journey to the axe and compasses is well worth making. On arrival you are greeted by happy, smiling staff and the food is delicious with an excellent choice from the menu. Recommend the roast beef on a Sunday. For the drivers amongst us there was a good selection of nonalcoholic drinks. Parking is great (no yellow lines).
