The Standard, an American Bistro Style Restaurant and Bar, located in the American Hotel right at the heart of Downtown Freehold. Open everyday for lunch and dinner until 9:00 pm, and offering an a la carte brunch on Sundays.

The contemporary menu offers a tantalizing variety featuring steaks, seafood and bistro-style dishes. Enjoy our upscale menu with friends while sipping on one our specially crafted cocktails.

Happy Hour is offered at the bar 7 days a week from 3:00-6:00. Additionally, we are now offering half priced bottles of wine every Wednesday and Sunday.

Please note that all reservations are for Indoor Dining only. Outdoor dining is purely first come, first serve. However, if you have a reservation, and there is an outside table available at the time of your arrival, you will be welcomed to it.

The name American Hotel made us wonder whether being a hotel it would be able to deliver on fine dining. Nevertheless, we decided to give it a chance. We were pleasantly surprised right from the reception to the end of the meal. The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout the whole experience. Our server, though new, was very pleasant and provided excellent service. The chef as well as the manager also checked constantly to ensure all was going well. My husband had the ribeye which was a generous portion and very well prepared. Best value for money! He said. I had the Chilean bass which I also enjoyed a lot. The ambience was just right and the decor and vibe reflected the Valentines mood. So we came from a place of doubt to one of total satisfaction. We will go there again!

Overall it was an enjoyable evening. Restaurant was nice located inside the hotel in the front. Food was pretty good had the seafood tower, sirloin steak and the Chilien sea bass. All was cooked well and was served at the proper temperatures. Only down side was that the tables were a little close when sitting along the wall with the long banquette seat. Especially if they are only for 2 people.

Outstanding food and service. Ryan the manager is so nice and friendly and makes sure all the customers are happy with their food. Additionally, Sophia is an excellent server.

Had dinner at American Hotel - The Standard on a Saturday night! We found late in the day an early reservation on Open Table at American Hotel. We loved the food (Chilean Sea Bass & Filet Mignon) and service was great with Kiley! By the time we left, the restaurant and bar were packed with patrons. Two drinks, appetizers, and entrees for $174 (tax included / tip not included) is reasonable value! Only draw back was no piano player which may be due to our early reservations. One nice note, American Hotel is the only restaurant on Main Street that offers complimentary valet service which is nice in this frigid weather! Highly recommend!!!

We used to go to the American Hotel for years before Covid. We have recently returned several times and are very impressed with the quality of food, service and decor. That being said, our only complaint is the music that is piped in. Terrible. We had an early dinner last night and the music was very distracting. Why not have nice piano music or something mellow piped in so people can relax, have a conversation and enjoy drinks and dinner?

I ordered the rack of lamb medium rare and it came out as ordered Medium Rare. Many restaurants do not know how to cook a rack The chef did an excellent job Raymundo our server paid attention to every detail

Our food was absolutely delicious!! The four of had 4 different entrees and every one was outstanding - prime rib, stuffed shrimp, salmon and osso buco. Great variety of specialty cocktails. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive to us all. Atmosphere lovely with a piano player on Friday nights. Will be back!! Thank you Standard!!
