    Service was exceptional. It was a cold day in Minneapolis so starts we had chowder and lobster bisque, both excellent. The milk bread was soft and warm. I recommend the Swordfish.

    I was hoping for a lot more from 801 Fish. For service: Took about 5m before being contacted by wait staff; then 10-15 more minutes for drinks (which is really not right). When oysters were delivered, there were no oyster forks or plates. We asked to split a Caesar salad but were just given the big bowl, with the expectation to split it ourselves; but we didn't get a second bowl until we asked. Meanwhile, the Caesar was described as a "little gem" Caesar, which sounded interesting - but the lettuce was chopped (so it didn't really matter that it was little gem lettuce). The crisped anchovies were a nice touch, as were the squid ink croutons were a good idea, but not very distinct in terms of flavor. For the main course: Both the cioppino and scallops sauce were way too salty (especially the cioppino). When our mains arrived, there was no silverware. We were still waiting for our wine. All around, not up to the standard of the other mainstream national fish chain over on 6th.

    It was a busy Saturday evening with reservations at 6:30p. Our party of four was seated timely. We waiting 15 minutes until our Server had time to come by to our table to greet us and ask for drink orders. We noticed that our server was the only one assigned to approximately 15 tables. There was a different person that brought the drinks after another 10 minutes, now 25 minutes into our experience and we had not ordered dinner yet. After ordering dinner, it took 30 minutes or so to receive our meal. I ordered Swordfish with fingerling potatoes. The swordfish was decent size and very tasty. I received maybe 6 small slivers of sliced potato under the fish steak. For the $48 price, I was underwhelmed. It was a good thing that another party member ordered a side of potates, that she happily shared, otherwise, I would have just had a piece of fish. The other party members had soup, with three toated bread pieces, appetizer plates or a seafood stew and all had better size portions. Our waters ran dry during the meal and were not seen until our busy server went by numerous times and then asked someone else to pour water for us. The food was tasty, the noise level high, the service needs improvement, especially for our $475 meal/tip pricetag for four people. I would expect more for that.

    We were excited to have our Valentine’s dinner at 801 Fish because they have caviar that was on my bucket list to try. The caviar came with the accompaniments and was very good. Our entrees of the Chilean Sea Bass and Sea Scallops were delicious as well.

    Best spot for seafood date night and any kind of especial occasions. Except for the small oyster the meat is so little. Next time I will order the medium size.

    Yes, it's pricey. No way to sugarcoat that. But the food was amazing, the service was top-notch and the restaurant is beautiful. Tables are not crowded together so you won't feel like you are sharing your conversation with the neighbors. The interior is very beautifully decorated. Though it's a seafood restaurant (literally in the name) they do have meat on the menu for the landlubbers you might be dining with. Great for business or an elegant date night. A definite "do again!"

    We come here often. To reward our high schooler for good grades, he gets to choose the restaurant and any meal he wants. He always chooses 801 Fish and always orders the same items (we split several items to get small bites of many things). This visit, the hot rock with A5 wagyu beef was no longer on the menu. We inquired about it and our waiter looked into it. The chef went next door to their sister restaurant (801 Chophouse) and got what they needed to make it happen. We were totally blown away! All of the food was amazing, as usual, along with the incredible service. Cannot recommend this place enough!
