Third time back in four months. Worth the drive to Oceanside. 24 Suns is doing something few restaurants do: take pride and ownership of every morsel of food on your plate, from the 21 month aged house made soy sauce to the foraged rare matsutake mushrooms. I have no experience in fine Chinese fusion cuisine, but I have enjoyed almost every dish served. Flavors and textures are unique, on point, and table conversation pauses with each course to discuss the dish… or simply savor. Service is friendly, attentive and accommodating of dietary needs. They do pairing menus often; we did the tea and dinner pairing, which was a unique and delicious endeavor. Cocktails are also unique and exceptional. I have respect for chefs pushing themselves out there with confidence in a crowded dining scene flooded with established restaurant groups. The dining room is now undergoing renovations after almost a year open but the time spent in the dated space has cemented 24 Suns as one of my favorite restaurants.

Awful experience, cheap/tacky decor, manager and chef were at odds on the menu and we were told as such. Portions small and overpriced. Drinks were devoid of alcohol and mostly ice. The staff kept telling us to come back after a future renovation. Don’t open if you’re not ready for prime time. Took forever to bring our food even though the place was virtually empty. Tastes were off. You would be well advised to get your Chinese food fix elsewhere.

Disappointed in the quality of the food. We heard this place was going for a Michelin star. Most of our food came out lukewarm when it should’ve been hot. The flavor profiles of the food was not that interesting. Time between dishes was a little too long for our taste. The service was great. The server was super nice and friendly and interested in feedback. I just think this restaurant needs some tweaking before it goes after anything big like a Michelin star. It’s in an older strip mall, which is not a big deal to us. I would eat great food in any hole in the wall. However, I do understand they’re gonna go through a big renovation and remodel. But a fancy atmosphere is not important to me more interested in quality of food. I think they’re trying they just aren’t there yet in my opinion.

This restaurant was amazing! We ordered many shared plates for the table and the duck entree. Everything was delicious! Great wine selection and cocktails. We will definitely be back again soon.

Fabulous high end dining in a super casual setting. The chef’s creativity in elevating dishes was very impressive. They created an off menu cocktail for me that was perfection.

The food was delicious. We shared the Bird's Nest appetizer and the whole fresh fish. The fish was perfectly cooked (not overcooked!) with a delicious sauce, crisp skin and lovely veggies on the side.

Outstanding service and food was beyond! Quiet enough to have great conversations, and to hear the owner who came over several times to give us guidance and information about the menu. We tried most of everything they offered, with a few exceptions (that would have been too much food). Can't wait to go back.
