North American influenced food, with quality locally sourced ingredients! Note that last bookings for breakfast are 11am and first bookings for all day menu are 12pm. This gives a chance to reset and get ready for our all day menu.There are now parking restrictions within the marina, we will validate your parking for you in order for you to get your parking for free. Back after more than a two year closure following the George IV Bridge in late 2021, Merchants has undergone a full refurbishment. Merchants serves Scottish cuisine in one of the most bustling areas of Edinburgh. Braised shin of beef, haggis and seared seabass are some of the dishes on an ever-changing menu, and the restaurant is happy to try and cater for any specific dietary requirements. Situated at 17 Merchant Street, Merchants Restaurant is proud to use fresh, locally sourced produce in its dishes. Historic Edinburgh Castle is a nine-minute journey on foot and Greyfriars Kirkyard a mere two minutes walk.

    We had a lovely visit to Nor Loft. David in particular was lovely. We visited for my husbands birthday and he really went over and above to make the occasion special. He’s a credit to the place. We’ll definitely be back :)

    We had a truly wonderful Valentine's evening at this restaurant! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and everything was spotlessly clean. The food was simply exceptional—top-notch in every way! That’s why I had to share a photo of our empty plates—everything was too delicious to leave behind! A special thank you to our waitress, Alison, who made our dining experience even more memorable with her warm smile and outstanding service. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. We’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to celebrate a special moment while enjoying amazing food!

    Overall really great meal, got the wrong starter to begin but was corrected quickly and got a free glass of wine. All the food was delicious and the staff were friendly. Definitely will be going back at some point

    Always an amazing experience at down the hatch. Food second to none. Great portion sizes. Used a deal which made it even better. Staff great.

    We were late on a Sunday and the restaurant was quiet, so that impacted the ambience somewhat, but everything else was very good. Very happy with food, wine and service.
