Wallis & Co is a modern Bar & Kitchen nestled on the picturesque setting that is Hartlepool Marina. The Crathorne Arms is a great pub in a wonderful community spirited village, lovely people, Lord Crathorne himself couldn’t be more supportive, how lucky we are.Our life has come a full circle from a town pub in Middlesbrough (well Eugene has) to the tontine (McCoys Hotel, Restaurant and Bistro) to a village pub in Crathorne, Ten Minutes from Middlesbrough.We live above the pub, our furniture and furnishings live downstairs as they can’t and won’t fit up the stairs! So the canoe has the condiments, the bookcases our books, the huge sofa with big squashy cushions to sink into, tin lanterns reflecting patterns on the ceiling, this all makes for a homely feel and that’s what we would like to create along with good wholesome food and drink.Of Course the staff, front of house and kitchen are all great, hardworking, smiley, enthusiastic young people and a joy to work with.

The Duke of Cleveland is situated on the Headland in Hartlepool, just a short distance from the coast and next to St Hilda's Church. It is a listed building and the oldest one still in use in the town. Our establishment is a restaurant and pub with an excellent reputation for serving traditional homemade British dishes. We take pride in sourcing produce from local businesses as much as possible and use these ingredients to create the best dishes for our patrons. Our signature dishes include Haddock in our special beer batter with hand-cut chips and the local speciality, the chicken parmesan. We believe in keeping things simple and making them well. On Sundays, we offer a traditional roast dinner with a choice of Roast Rib of Beef, Loin of Pork, Breast of Chicken or Lamb Shank.The Duke of Cleveland is the ideal venue for weddings and other special occasions or events. It has a choice of function rooms suited to your requirements. In the summer months, we open our cosy bear garden.

    Our first visit here and could not fault the experience. My flat iron steak with side orders was perfect. Not a crumb left. Hubby’s pork cheek very tender and the beef burger did not disappoint. I finished old school with Baked Alaska the perfect end to our meal. Ronnie was our main waiter but all staff looked after us really well. Great ambience and looking forward to returning.

    This was our first visit, we went with some friends and had brunch and we weren't disappointed; the staff were brilliant, the food was cooked fresh, well presented and was very tasty. We have been telling friends about this great cafe and will defiantly go back, possibly next time for coffee and cake and again to try an evening meal.

    Form the moment we were met at the food we were impressed; lovely warm welcome, very attentive staff and great setting. Food was really tasty - red cabbage and cauliflower cheese really made my “Sunday dinner” perfect. Desserts were amazing, especially the crème brûlée. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and will defo be back.

    Lovely food and friendly and efficient staff would definitely recommend. Our group’s age range was from 10 to 98 and there was something for everyone- a very pleasant lunch
