Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting. The new fit-out features bar-counter seats around an open kitchen, red booth seating divided by Japanese-style timber panelling and a hard-to-miss chandelier. There’s also a 20-seat private dining room. We use only the finest ingredients such as Japanese Black Cattle made in Australia for beef, Sashimi and Seafood fresh from the sea. Rengaya is the restaurant foodies around the country have chosen.

The Apprentice Restaurant Sydney is a TAFE NSW licensed training restaurant. We are open Tuesday to Thursday lunch and dinner during TAFE Term time.Lunch 12pm to 2pm: three courses (entrée, main & dessert) for $44 or you can select any two courses for $39. The freshly shucked Tasmania oysters we had this evening is of premium quality, fatty juicy tasty; the best we had this year so far and the dish of the night. O-Toro sashimi and A5 Kagoshima Wagyu are good as usual. The only let down for this evening is the matcha cheesecake; it’s a bit too dry and hard compared to what we had in previous visits. Good friendly service as always.

We ordered 3 dishes to start with but it took like 40mins to come out. Also the waiter served wrong dish and we waited like another 30mins. He didnt apologise or anything. The vibe, food and drinks were good! Will come back if better service is guaranteed.

The food quality, the environment, and the service are very good. The price is reasonable for the quality of food. The down side is the one hour time limit on ordering food and 1.5 hours staying limit. It is quite rush for gathering with friend. Overall is good.
