The Bateman Arms was built c.1750 by Sir James Bateman (Lord Mayor Of London) as a building where his Estate workers would collect on pay day. There are a wide variety of restaurants in Ludlow, but Clive Arms stands out if you want traditional British food that makes the most of Ludlow’s local ingredients.Our food is inspired by the seasonal produce of Shropshire and our surrounding counties. Many of our ingredients are handmade at Ludlow Farmshop.     What a lovely and surprising find. We were shown to out table straight away. Food was beautiful and excellent value for money. Although there several diners it wasn't noisy. Service was prompt without being intrusive.

    Just great. Excellent service, food was just a celebration for the taste buds. We sat by the fire for a drink. Ate well and then relaxed back at the fire and the chap managing silently refilled the fire without any need for us to say a thing. Just incredible presentation and relaxing. Definitely be going again. Thank you

    Incredible experience!! From the minute we entered to the moment we left we loved everything. All staff were very helpful and smiling! (Like they enjoy what they do!) The food!! OUT OF THIS WORLD!! We went here for the first time for my son’s 10th birthday and we can’t wait to return!

    This was our first visit to the Lion and we had booked for Sunday lunch. Whilst the quality of the food was very good one slice of meat didn’t quite just justify £22 in our opinion. Overall the service was good, it was a busy restaurant and the staff you could see were working hard. The rest of the meal was good and we intend to visit again.
