Farang was recently inducted into the National Restaurant Awards top 100 and awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand, which we have kept four years running. In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Kai Haw Bai Toey - deep fried marinated chicken in pandanus leaves, Kaeng Kiew Warn Kai - chicken in green curry soup, also recommended the Nipa platter - a selection of the chef's special Thai starters.

Delicious food and great service! We ordered the pomelo salad, papaya salad and pad Thai with prawns. Only flag is that they add £2.50 cover charge per person on the bill. It was not disclosed in the reservation nor on the menu or elsewhere.

The whole experience on a freezing night was warm and welcoming. The staff did not stop smiling and bought loving cooked food and drinks that were felt and affordable. Really recommend this gem

This is a great neighbourhood find. Nice ambience and good food. Service is friendly. The kitchen is unreasonably slow which let's the whole side down. It shouldn't take 30 minutes for starters to come or close to 20 for dessert. I'll come back for the food in the hope that this weakness will be rectified.

They have recently changed their menu and there weren't as many choices as before, also it looks like a more generic Thai restaurant than the Thai fusion which we knew of. Still, the food was tasty and we are glad that the 'complicated noodles' were still there!
