State of Grace is a coastal, South Texas neighborhood restaurant in the refurbished Lamar-River Oaks Shopping Center. Elegant but casual, its elevated comfort food by executive chef Bobby Matos is executed at the highest level in a welcoming, beautiful space. The jubilant medley of old favorites played with new spice, accent, and freshness lends itself to southern, American, Latin, Gulf Coast, German and Asian influences. Chef-owner Ford Fry’s first venture outside of Atlanta, State of Grace is located in the neighborhood where Ford grew up and nods to his childhood memories fused with Houston’s evolution into a melting pot of cultures and cuisines.

El restaurante Grace's surgió de la visión del propietario Johnny Carraba, como un homenaje a los buenos recuerdos que tenía de su querida abuela Grace Mandola. Grace, quiene era conocida en la familia como Mama, era una mujer Siciliana nacida en Louisiana de padres inmigrantes. Ella tenía un gran don para la cocina y la hospitalidad, así como una profunda fe. Grace era conocida por el pan que hacía en casa todos los sábados y por sus legendarios almuerzos sicilianos de tres horas los domingos, donde las nuevas raíces adquiridas en Louisiana le agregaban un sabor interesante a sus platillos caseros. Conocido por generaciones gracias a su hospitalidad, la propietaria Elouise Adams Jones, también conocida como Ouisie, sirve una gran variedad de platillos sureños, acompañados con una excelente carta de vinos.
