We are Kaizen. It all started when longtime friends from Flushing, Queens, came together with an idea that would soon be introduced to their hometown city. They all shared the same love for Japanese traditions and the simplicity, yet, flavorful ingredients that are carefully constructed into each Temaki. Our passion is to bring an authentic and contemporary Temaki (hand rolls) & Omakase concept that highlights delicate hand rolls and artful craft cocktail pairings to Flushing, Queens. The executive chef, Ben, also a former executive chef at Sushi Seki, an Alumnus of Michelin-starred Tim Ho Wan, in Hong Kong, and New York’s O Ya and Kissaki omakase sushi bar. From the decadent rice to each finely cut of fish, Ben takes pride in every individual piece that he prepares.

“My original thinking when we opened the restaurant was to serve the local Thai community in Elmhurst,” says Chunton. “Clearly I underestimated New York City’s appetite for Northeastern Thai food. From cleaning bushels of raw tomatoes to jarring the sauce with fresh basil there was always enough made so you never left Sunday dinner hungry.
