I made reservation months ago to celebrate Xmas with family. The setting is lovely but we waited almost an hour for our first plate of Arancini which was very dry. The salad was ok and nothing special and our dinner was almost 1.5 hours after arrival. The server apologized for the delay and he never refilled my grandson’s soda, I had to request it. The evening meal for 3 with a bottle of wine was almost $500 and I truly left disappointed. I could have eaten a better meal anywhere else in Oahu for half the price, tastier food and better service.

We arrived at the reservation time but had to wait about 15 minutes waiting for a table to be prepared. The service was terrific. Slight negatives with the food: My wife's fish was too salty. Fish was fresh but the soy sauce was overwhelming. I ordered my favorite macadamia nut encrusted mahi mahi but disappointed they seem to have cut back on the amount of macadamia bits so it lost some of the macadamia nut flavor and crunchiness. All in all though, still a good experience and I would go back again.

Roy’s is all that is promised. For anyone drawn to cuisine experiences, a pilgrimage to Roy’s is a must! To do so at the original Roy’s is to begin at the beginning. From the edamame to the pineapple upside down cake, our dining experience was a joy. Experienced talented staff and a wonderful chat with the manager created an experience that we cannot wait to reproduce! Run…don’t walk…to the Original Roy’s Hawaii Kai!

Great location with sunset and beach/ocean view. Service team very attentive to waiting on the needs at each table. Courtesy table visit by I presume manager and separate visit by assistant manager was a great touch. 6 members in our party enjoyed their meal and oddly we all had different dishes and each member enjoyed their meal.

One of the best meals ever. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary together and I reserved a table for us at the original Roy’s. We were treated extremely well n our waiter was exceptionally nice and friendly. We started with a pair of Hawaii martini’s. Excellent! We then split the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. We then ordered the trio fish plate that we just fell in love with. To cap it off we had the upside down pineapple cake. Overall just an amazing dinner! Highly recommend this place!!

We really expected more from Roy’s. First of all I have to say the service was excellent! We requested the lounge area as it’s a lot quieter and very comfortable setting. The lows were unfortunately the food. The menu seemed limited, the combo fish trio was disappointing, the blackened ahi had very little taste, the miso butterfish was also lacking taste, and the crusted macadamia nut mahi was very salty. We also had the crispy whole snapper which we have to say was very good. I would suggest maybe expanding the menu would be an improvement and more consistency in the food prep? I again would like to mention the staff was terrific! From the hostess to our wait staff they were very accommodating and friendly!
