Mia Bella Trattoria - which translates as "My Beautiful" Trattoria - is a delightful combination of Italian tradition and regional American twists. With multiple locations, the dining destinations are fun, intimate and moderately priced just like the traditional Trattorias where Italian families gathered for wine and delicious food. In a tradition of his own making, Owner/Chef Youssef Nafaa has created an exciting menu of familiar foods pushed to a new level with daring preparations and imaginative ingredients. The food has always been very good here, but every time we visit, service lets the place down. Such a pity. The high ceiling also allows for a loud experience. Good food means we shall return.

I have had several great experiences with the Old Mia Bella downtown Houston. Which is no longer open. I have tried the Vintage Mia Bella twice and it was less of a dining experience as the original. The service was excellent. The food was average. The atmosphere was cold. The food was bland, I ordered the risotto with scallops. The scallops were good and served hot however the risotto was cold, clumpy, bland and chewy. My wife's diner was better, perhaps it was just the risotto. When I made the reservation, they asked what the occasion was. I put anniversary, on arrival no mention or anything to note the anniversary. So why ask?

Our Kale Salad was very good and know some of the more traditional dishes have a slight twist and may be paired with not traditional sides, although they do seem to work, so read the descriptions carefully if you don't like surprises. They will allow you to change out a side. Over all, know we would and will go back, but there are many other Restaurants in Houston to go to before coming back.

The food was great, I had the ceasar steak salad and a peach Bellini. My boyfriend enjoyed his food as well although I don’t remember the name of what he ordered. The food came out literally 15 minutes after we ordered. Great service and great atmosphere.
