Manicomio Chelsea opened its doors in 2003. It is set on the buzzy Duke of York Square, set back from Sloane Square and the iconic Kings Road. Housed in a historic Grade II listed building that was formerly the Royal military asylum- the origin of Manicomio’s playful name (Italian for madhouse).

Renowned for serving simple yet elegant Italian food in the attractive dining room, bar and – weather permitting- the expansive terrace. The adjoining Manicomio Café offers a pared-down version of the restaurant’s menu- available to enjoy in either the café, conservatory, courtyard or terrace or as take away.

Manicomio’s enthusiastic passion for all things Italy- with a strong focus on provenance, quality and taste - has seen the Manicomio family grow to two more successful sites, each with their own identity- Manicomio in St Pauls and Canto Corvino in Spitalfields.

                                                                              The food was good .. but we booked a table at the dinning room however we sat near the bar on a corner near the entrance. It wasn’t very comfortable and not what I expected.

Good menu with traditional choices - daily menu of 2 or 3 courses especially appreciated with very enjoyable choices. Burrata with speck and then monkfish was excellent. Friendly and helpful efficient staff. Thanks for a nice lunch!!
